We don't call things racist anymore. We call such displays "anti-PC". And they are to be applauded for their courage!

"Some local leaders say they are outraged by the inclusion of a golf cart depicting President Obama as a "lying African" going down a toilet in a small central Indiana town's Independence Day parade"

Where are the displays, placard, signs & floats of G.W. Bush, his administration & Republicans in Congress covered with the blood of 9/11 victims & American soldiers injured & killed in Iraq based on the slimy Republican LIE of WMD.

Without this there is no Freedom of Speech or Liberty!

What's that white in chicken shit?

I don't remember much outrage about people being assaulted in San Diego coming out of a political rally a few weeks ago.

In fact the Mayor blamed the event, not the violent protesters. They even beat each other up by mistake.

Now we're supposed to get upset over a float in a parade?

Tatupu - let's just say the outrage isn't quite as widespread and that many people aren't nearly as upset as the media would have you believe. There was more outrage Pence walked in a parade in John Gregg's hometown on the 4th if you want to get right down to it.

I don't doubt it. There is obviously a large % of the population that thinks it's OK.

Be upset, don't be upset. Up to you.

This would never be a news story, had Pence not been with Trump a few days before all this

You're kidding, right? Most people won't make a big deal about it because they'll just assume it was rednecks doing their thing.

Has nothing to do with rednecks - you're about 3-4 hours drive tops, northwest of me but politically your state is the polar opposite of this place

Not at all. Go west of Naperville or south of Kankakee and Illinois is the same as most of IN.

The bigger deal was the Gregg supporters trash talking Pence. The paper did manage to get a small piece on this but is sure was not they way you think it would be given the national media. The bigger news was expanding the jail in one of the local counties and similar.

How big a deal it is depends on your perspective, I guess.

Odd graphic showing Dems in red and Reps in blue. Opposite of almost everyone else.

I will say I'm surprised that the counties on the IL/IA border voted Dem. Otherwise, IL is just like IN once you get out of Chicagoland. The only other county looks to be Champaign county (college town) in a sea of blue.
