Personally, I don't actually enjoy upsetting people. So, I tend to pull out of the conversation if I think that a person is taking things too seriously... I just don't see the point. 1) I don't really need to be validated as "right" by people I don't know; 2) you never know what is going through another person's head, so why risk it?

The second reason is an important one, to me. You just don't really know the person you are talking to on this forum.
