Could you imagine that wheel malfunctioning and engaging while you're doing 70mph on the interstate.
These days slick trumps all. Products are not deemed unsafe until somebody or several people die. Like exploding smart phones and 3rd row seats pinning down and suffocating a Teen age young man.

While we have computer-assisted parking today, the 1950s had to add an extra wheel to park. The Park-Cr was a mid-century, innovative prototype.
