This forum has become quite the right wing bubble.

Social media, forums, everything boxed in to polarized bubbles these days. Except often (not nearly always), what the right thinks is the left wing bubble, is just reality.

In the Watergate days, a lot of people that voted for Nixon, at some point decided, "hey, I was wrong, this guy sucks." Sure, you can argue it was the liberals fault for going after him, for doing a bunch of illegal shit.

That could truly not happen now, no way, and it's a problem on both sides, but more so I believe on the right. When was the last time you heard a Democrat leader boast, "stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody."

We are totally set one of these years to pivot towards authoritarianism, with half or so of the country supporting it..

Is there any one else here capable enough of stepping back to know that what I'm saying is true ?

Dude, you've been crying the same "wolf" since 2016 and yet not a single step towards authoritarianism has been realistically made. The word has almost lost its meaning because of all this misuse, just like "racism" and "nazi".... and "literally". =))

I assumed the more literate people here would read my comment from their vantage point, and agree.

Especially considering the fact that half of what I read on this forum is people whining that what they see is a authoritarian hoax being perpetrated by the globalist left.

That's okay, I get lazy with my reading comprehension sometimes too.

Every Republican in my lifetime going back to Nixon, Reagan, Bush, and Bush II were called Nazis and Authoritarians by the screechy Left.

They cried wolf too many times.

Every time you’ve been challenged on this all you do is link to a crappy opinion piece. You have yet to cite one factual example.

Why would you sway anyone without relevant facts supporting your opinion?

So you don't agree that no matter what Trump does, literally NO MATTER WHAT HE DOES, there is is a huge media apparatus and a large segment of the population, at least 40% or so that will always be with him ?

I argue that that simply wasn't true 30 to 50 years ago. It might have been somewhat true, but nothing like what is is now.

Next you'll tell me that we don't have record breaking extreme polarization, even though the democrats are to the right of where republicans were in the 60s and 70s. I'm not disagreeing about how fucked up things are. I just have a different frame of reference. (yeah, I'm not talking about the sjw fringe and identity politics that you want to say is todays left. I'm talking about our congress and whomever the next democratic President is, whenever that is).

You guys disagree just for the sake of disagreeing. I guess as soon as I say that in my opinion it's worse on the right, that's your only take away from what I was saying. The rest of what I said (that is my actual point) is 100% ignored.

Part of my point is that it's totally impossible to sway anyone. My side too.

This doesn't prevent one side or the other from being right from time to time. We should be fighting for mechanisms to find facts and truth. To find agreement and occasionally to solve problems. Instead it always political war.

That's not easy when even reality has a left wing bias.

Of course. If it makes Trump look bad, it must be media's fault, facts be damned. Brilliant way to take the country down.

Show an article printed in 2017 warning about this pandemic. The media doesn't inform us, it lies to us. Propagandizes us.

The difference is that Trump has done nothing illegal. And the illegality of Nixon's actions pale compared to Bush (take your pick) and Obama.

Can you name one high crime or misdemeanor Trump has committed? Didn't think so.

A global pandemic was always 100% going to happen. It's like an earthquake in San Francisco, or a hurricane in New Orleans.
Just a question of when a Chinese eats his bat soup a bit under-cooked.

We're lucky too. Instead of 1% lethal it could be 15%.
What we are seeing now is a dress rehearsal.

Trump's policies would have been bread and butter to any blue dog democrat 30-50 years ago. Also the media was far less left wing in general.

Name the facist act Trump has committed. You keep asserting that idea, surely you must have a factual basis for believing so.

Only with regard to stuff that's irrelevant to actual governance such as identity politics, and all the other stuff your fantasize that you can equate with the left such a s gender nonsense. That stuff is all just part of the divide and conquer game which you enjoy promoting so much.
23   theoakman   2020 Apr 6, 6:01pm

Quite honestly, my initial reaction was no different to SARS, Swine Flu, Zika hysteria. The problem with the CDC is that they always tried to raise the alarm as if it was the end of days. At some point, people get sick of it. In this particular case, the CDC screwed up and took the WHO Chinese propaganda for what it was and didn't raise hell right away. There are no easy answers here. The reality is, there was no political will to shut down the borders on Jan 1. There was little political will to shut the borders on Jan 31. Are we going to have the political will to do it right away next time?

Well well well, in deep Blue Commifornia, tonight, right now, on Spectrums public news channel, who but LA Sheriff Alex Villanueva, in a County entirely run by leftist Democrats, said that in mid December there was a county memo that considered corona virus to be of no consequence.

So is the media narration that Trump ignores the Science correct and if so, why did the Dems ignore the same?

This is pretty much the case with any POTUS and the people that voted for them (him still I guess). Not sure your point.

Sorry you're on the flip side. I don't think you're wrong thinking this, but what are you going to do? Remember high school student council? This really isn't much different. Your guy/gal didn't get picked so you're on the losing end. This is all human nature bull shit. Not worth crying about really. Prior to this pandemic, things were going along just fine and everyone on the left knows it. The left is the one kicking the guy in the nuts when he's down and doesn't realize he's wearing a cup.... Low class stuff during a pandemic.

That's because Donald Trump is a typical, NY city pro business democratic from 1960. That was 60 years ago.

He's entirely a NYC Democrat. That's what is so damned funny about him being president. He's a classic DEMOCRAT. How they even see a conservative in him, I have no idea.

Oh, I don't know.

Tax Cuts for the highest brackets, massive deficits, Supreme Court, Putting the wolf in charge of the hen house at EPA. How's that for starters ?

I'm assuming that to you democrat means slimy and corrupt ?

Oh, I forgot, Trump is all about the little guy, not like those murderous globohomo people or those confused adolescents.
