It's not like it would be a huge problem for FSB to get guns to whoever they need to in the US. Straw purchase, smuggle them from Mexico, straight-up get it from the Russian embassy - all easy-peasy.

Then I want to know who this suspect talked with and interacted with. There has to be people that knew him besides his parents and saw him interact with others. I want to know who those others are who had close ties or interactions to this suspect.
