The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

So let's say it was repealed. I think this would go a long way toward curbing federal overreach. Or would the feds then move on to massive excise taxes on consumer goods?

Repealing the 16th would probably be a popular proposition. How did it manage to get passed in the first place?

By convincing the voters that an income tax would only apply to the very rich.

Wouldn’t it be easier just to elect representatives and senators to write a law that taxes are voluntary, no penalty for non payment?

@Patrick - It wasn't.

The 16th amendment was never properly ratified.

And no, this isn't some fringe conspiracy BS. It wasn't ratified.

The problem is we are now paying for our own deconstruction and destruction.
An out of control, foreign dominated foreign city state of DC, almost universally rigged elections, combined with our taxes collected by a privately owned foreign entity that takes its vig before deciding how much to send back, means that we have no 'taxation with representation' any more. Our money just flows from our accounts and paychecks to them without any recognizance, except who they bribe to get in on the con.

Is there any doubt in your mind?

Do away with income tax and replace it with import duties.

That would have a triple benefit:

1. no income tax
2. encouragement of US manufacturing jobs
3. less dependence on China

Good point.

The massive coordinated election fraud negates our supposed representation.

Maybe we should have an amendment making the income tax unconstitutional then.

I'll wait here and hold my breath. :)

Repeal the 16th, 17th, and 19th. Replace the 19th, and instead have a citizenship test, a $50 Poll Tax, and only married or current military/Emergency Services or veteran women can vote. Ban non-military, non-emergency services (excluding specifically social workers) government employees from voting.

If we had a measly $50 poll tax, so many undesirables wouldn't vote.
