If Ukraine ultimately fails, that just means everybody that was killed, died for nothing more than to put Ukraine further into poverty and debt. I think Ukraine will fail, but time will tell.

Exactly. People still don't get it. The moral compass of a person is not defined by their assessment of the situation on the battlefield. One may think that Russia is winning and I will not treat them with disrespect just because of that. On the other hand, someone who pushes many lines of Kremlin propaganda which justify the aggression against Ukraine has firmly made their way into the category of subhumans in my book. Same goes for characters who celebrate (real or imaginary) achievements of the modern Nazis.

Russia indeed was preparing for the assault for some time, and very seriously. From social engineering (making connections in political circles, primarily German, mastering art of propaganda and building troll factories, undermining social fabric in the West and in Ukraine) to sending mercenaries and carrying out clandestine military operations.
