This is the first real video I have ever seen of it. I remember discussing this in a Highschool class either world history or science. Where it has been documented going back centuries. I was always fascinated by it, but never saw it.
Scientists have proposed a number of hypotheses to explain reports of ball lightning over the centuries, but scientific data on ball lightning remain scarce. The presumption of its existence has depended on reported public sightings, which have produced inconsistent findings. Owing to the lack of reproducible data, the existence of ball lightning as a distinct physical phenomenon remains unproven.
Looks like ball lightening that was in the Russian computer game 'Metro Exodus. I would vote for CGI, which isn't to say ball lightening isn't a thing, lots of witnesses who have seen them.
I saw one (probably) when I was a 7 year old kid literally flying kites as a storm blew in.
But it didn't look anything like that at all, it was very bright white, about 300ft in the air and shot down the neighborhood street faster than the speed of sound minimum. Made a lot of noise as well.
It was so fast it was hard to make out as a ball but it didn't appear to have a beginning and an end and seemed roundish. Older kids told me what ball lightning meant. Just appeared at a high level, travelled horizontally at a high level then disappeared.
