Only you can be insulted if you allow it, you cannot be insulted unless you allow yourself to be. You allow yourself to take offense. Somebody that calls me a name, if I don't respect them or their opinion, how can I be insulted by it? It's weakness to be able to be insulted by somebody you, supposedly, don't respect - that you don't envy or respect. Can you really be insulted by a drug addict street bum? Differentiate between intimidation/threats and insults.
