Got a New Job in SW Without a LinkedIn Account

LinkedIn seems to insidiously have taken over the SW job search market, while ratcheting up the privacy invasion. You can't even create an account anymore without a cellphone. I stopped using it a few years ago because out of the blue, they locked my account, and insisted I upload my drivers license to verify my identity. Got my next job thanks to an internal referral, and this time resolved not to use them if I could avoid it. Just using Indeed I was able to land a job in about a month, which is usually how long it takes.

I ask people for their emails, and that's how I keep in contact.

We don't have to use their gootube, their fakebook, their twatter, or their linkedinLog. Fuck mainstream social media privacy invaders, be free, live your own life.

That's another thing I hate about the new Enterprise stupidity.
Those in charge, do everything with a third-party service, or quasi social service. So you end up having to create a Microsoft or Google account to be linked into the account you make for the third party service. And then your phone is connected to it. I don't even like doing it signing up with my corporate email, which I always do. But then tying my phone into those services, when it's tied to email from an other company, that I no longer have access to.

You can't really call these shops "The Enterprise" Google or Microsoft is ruling that domain.

I at least have avoided the cellphone tie-in for years now using fobs, or password managers for my dual-auth. No cellphone, no cellphone verification!

Can you elaborate on this? I'm damned tired of the "Dual-auth" bullshit demanding a cell #.

DARPA me this, Batman! You can tell most commonly used local blogs and medias are sired from the same dragon's head as FaceFuckBook.

OK, I give up.... What's this "SW" thing you keep mentioning?
South-Western part of the country?
Sweden? (SW is their international country code)
SoftWare?
SouthWest Airlines?

If your company supports fobs, you can request one of those. It's a little device with a screen where you push a button, and get a random code. If they don't just create a free 1Password account, and setup your 2FA through there. You have to bypass the usual 2FA methods, and get to a link that you paste in a particular field in 1Password. Once you save it, will automatically generate the codes you need.

I am becoming more and more disgusted with LinkedIn. They are constantly pushing DEI agendas, so much so, that I have resorted to flagging them as racist or sexist, which they flat out lie and deny that they are. And the endless self-promotional posts that people make about themselves. I am honored, pleased, delighted about the post I just made about me, me, me. And at least in the field I work, continual posts by PhD salespeople of their partying their faces off at trade show meeting locations. Hopefuly the increasing layoffs in the field will smack some sense into them.

And the cancelling of counter-narrative eminently competent scientists like Malone and others. The soup-of-the-day compliance posts of the Ukranian flag, the I follow Fauci posts, a broadcasting that they are going along to cover up a lack of competence, or, to ensure career advancement. (Yes, I am willing to get behind anything management signals is the right social cause, bending over.)

But as if there needed to be another reason to bail on the crap app, this fat cow LinkedIn founder is paying people to slander Trump.

E. Jean Carroll's defamation and sexual assault claims case against former President Donald Trump has been funded by billionaire LinkedIn founder and noted Trump critic Reid Hoffman, according to new court records.

Carroll alleges Trump sexually assaulted her in the 1990s and sued under New York's Adult Survivors Act, a novel law allowing victims to sue for civil damages beyond the statute of limitations. Trump has vehemently denied her allegations.

Has he and Michael Moore ever been seen together?

That would be a deal breaker for me. That and I don't keep mine updated. No real reason to advertise to everyone with a browser who you work for. You'll see references to it in the Pro Revenge section in Reddit.

I don't use my real name when I search for work, as I'm putting out lots of applications. Only once official paperwork has to be signed do they know who I am. I think somehow that's what got me flagged in their system.

Indeed has tons of listings, and requires almost no personal info to create an account, certainly no cellphone numbers. Red Balloon and New Founding are good sites for non-woke companies, but the listings are sparse.

One more method, use a temp sms website. temp.sms.org is one example. That what I ended up using at the new job rather than downloading Windows Authenticator. Tried 1Password first, but seems like the company blocked use of that to generate the one time codes.

Haha yeah it's degraded into a network for sociopaths quite a while ago. 80% are either self-promoting, or personal posts that have nothing to do with work (or both at the same time), how I quit drinking or came out as tranny. It's quite possible many are AI generated, that's called manufacturing consent. I also noticed recruiters using it less and less for contact, they may find candidates there, but they mostly contact you outside of LI now.
