Gordon Klein, professor of accounting, has been suspended for three weeks
Non-black students emailed asking for leniency in marking black peers' work
Klein replied that he had no idea who was black given the course was online
He asked how he should grade people of multiple ethnicities
Klein noted MLK's fight for people to not be evaluated based on skin color
UCLA's Anderson School of Business described his email as 'disturbing'
A petition to see Klein removed now has almost 20,000 signatures
Academics have defended Klein for 'treating students on the basis of equality'

Demanding special and unearned privileges on the basis of race alone is a pretty good definition of racism.

Clarence Thomas stated he wished he had never benefited from affirmative action. It creates a permanent cloud. Even qualified and competent blacks wind up having to prove themselves over and over again under a cloud, whereas true earners are given automatic credibility. It also creates a cloud in the ego that maybe the naysayers were all correct.

Of course unless they go into Democratic politics, where their frailties don't matter, just the ability to bullshit and manipulate, but that's true of any good sociopath.

@Patrick

I’m not sure that’s the whole story. He has quite a reputation at UCLA...

“No” is all the explanation I will give.
"No" is after all a complete sentence.

It would be interesting to hear more.

My bet: he has enraged the children (which includes liberal faculty members) by refusing to sacrifice truth on the alter of political correctness.

Political correctness is chock full of lies and we should call out these lies.

Ironically, the only person I can recall who took a great stand against political correctness was a black man. Dave Chappelle's most recent standup was a breath of fresh air and I thought we started to turn the corner at the beginning of this year. The radical left is going all in on this shit.

The whole country already suspects that black candidates are less qualified because Affirmative Action lowers the bar for blacks. "The soft bigotry of low expectations."

It doesn't help to overtly demand more of the same. It harms black people who actually do the work and are qualified.

at this point it's just mobs demanding free stuff, special treatment, and beating down anyone who disagrees. they are bringing back tribalism and race wars.

I think much of America given up on judge others "by content of their character".

Educational reparations now!

I wonder if both the students and the staff of these colleges ever give a thought to how employers view such actions. I'm willing to bet many just put the names of these institutions on a "do not hire" list, since the credentials are questionable, at best.

Wonder why companies don't hire a lot of blacks? Could it be they made it on affirmative action and not merit? Could it be they start litigation and complain pulling the race card making them hard to fire? To fill a token quota and look PC? How do they not see that in the long term this just causes damage and self doubt?

How fucked up it is to not be able to speak ones mind without a brainwashed brain dead mob coming after you.

And now gets death threats:

https://jonathanturley.org/2020/06/10/ucla-professor-suspended-and-under-police-protection-after-refusing-to-exempt-black-students-from-final-exam/

Gordon Klein, an accounting professor in the Anderson School of Business has taught at University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) for almost 40 years. He is now suspended and under police protection in his home. The reason? Klein refused to exempt black students from his final exam and sent a pointed rebuttal to students asking for the “no harm” exam. Parts of the response was certainly mocking in tone, more so than I would have considered appropriate. The school has launched a formal discrimination investigation. However, the suspension, investigation, and death threats against Klein reinforce the fear of many in the academy of a raising orthodoxy on campus and a lack of support for faculty involved in controversies.

This is just part of the pattern of hyper-violent leftists.

Such actions are applauded by many faculty who have supported the increasing limits on free speech and academic freedom on campus. There has been a startling erosion of such protections for those with opposing views at universities and colleges. Many faculty are intimidated by the response in these controversies and fear that supporting academic freedom or free speech will result in their being labeled racist or lacking of empathy. In three decades of teaching, I have never seen the level of intolerance for free speech that we are seeing across the country. As I noted, there are valid objections to raise in these incidents, but the response of universities is clearly designed to send a message to other academics that they cannot expect the protections of the universities in such controversies.

I wonder what our more liberal patnetters think about this...somehow I usually see them in ORANGEMANBAD threads more

My father's friend owned a Minneapolis printing operation in the 90s. He had a black employee that would randomly miss a few days of work without telling anyone. So he fired him. The guy put forth a discrimination complaint and the affirmative action office sued him. Cost him 60k. Later that year, he saw him on America's most wanted for various murders. Basically, this guy was skipping out on work and murdering people...but the government saw fit to sue him and cost him a ton of money.

I knew silicon valley managers that didn't want to hire from Bezerkely or Standford. One exclusively sought out Georgia Tech. That was late 90s though and for tech jobs.

I definitely see kids coming out of UC San Diego with more practical computer science and lab bench skills than either Bezerk or Stan. I think it's going to be short lived though. The NorCal PC rot is here now too.

The non-"minorities" from Berkeley or Stanford are fine, in my experience. At the very least, those students either had richer/powerful parents (in which case they would major in communications, political science, or one of the various and dreaded "study" majors) or they were actually quite smart, driven, and diligent.

Hiring from Georgia Tech? Really? Sounds like a case of "B" managers hiring "C" employees instead of "A" managers wanting to hire "A+" employees.

Had a genetics undergrad join my lab from Bezerkely. First job, easy as pie, equivalent to manning the soda machine a McDonalds. Guy kept fucking up and would get mad at me and say shit like, "I work smart instead of hard!". He'd show up sometimes at 1PM because he's a lazy fuck. I'm terrible in the morning too but damn. He didn't work smart or hard.

Oh yeah, white guy.

Georgia Tech is ranked in the top 10 and has consistently done so for the last 30 years.

There are some terrible "Historically Black" colleges: as a navy recruiter I tested a 4.0 Physics major from Morgan State University In Maryland for Officer programs. He scored a 70 on the ASVAB. You get a 70 for signing your name to the test. I didn't have the heart to tell him his college "education" wasn't worth a hill of beans in the real world.
Current Standards: Morgan State University/Typical SAT scores - Reading and Writing 440-520, Math 460-540 (2017–18)
People with these scores - of any background - should be considering a good paying job in the trades - college isn't their way.

Howard University in D.C. was generally considered the best of these institutions, and it still rates poorly, as well as being generally unsafe to attend.

These places should be abolished as "altars of low expectations", indeed.

Of course, these ratings are certainly considered "racist" now. "What, colleges rated for performance?!? That would allow people to make considered choices. This outmoded thinking has been banned in favor of equality and fairness! We declare all colleges equal!"

Is that the composite score ? I know the Coast Guard has the highest minimum ASVAB composite score requirement set at 40.

https://www.petersons.com/blog/what-your-asvab-scores-mean/

I think most of the HBCU's have an average SAT of around 940, compared to the national average of around 1050.

I think a lot of that may be because African Americans do not have access to SAT and ACT preparation instruction.
