People with rap sheets as long as your arm walk free every day in Blue state cesspools, but these unconvicted citizens won’t even get a trial date for over a year after arrest. Sixth Amendment violations

So much for the presumption of innocence… and the Sixth Amendment right to a “speedy trial.”

The DOJ seems to be dragging its feet in sifting through the “evidence” against the January 6 rioters, some of whom have been in custody since January. More than 590 people have been arrested for what the Democrats and their comrades in the Corporate Media have continued to label an “insurrection” for six months.

Julie Kelly over at American Greatness has been excellent in her reporting what has been happening with the January 6 rioters.

Kelly’s latest report indicates that the DOJ attorney urged the judge to push the trial date for Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, an Army reservist who was arrested for his part in the January 6 riot, until 2022.

The lead attorney for the DOJ, Kathyrn Fifield, told Judge Trevor McFadden that it will take time to go through the “incalculable” amount video captured that day for proper discovery. This includes “at least 14,000 hours of surveillance video plus thousands of hours of body-worn camera footage from law enforcement” according to Kelly.

Judge McFadden and Hale’s court-appointed attorney, Jonathan Crisp, said to the DOJ last month that unless a plea arrangement was agreed upon, a trial would be set for later this year because Hale already has been incarcerated for more than six months. Fifield resisted a 2021 court date.

Fifield said, “If we do set a trial date, the government cannot meet discovery obligations until early 2022. That’s a conservative estimate.”

Despite the lack of evidence against him, Hale has been behind bars since January. He is not charged with any violent crimes but the Justice Department repeatedly—and successfully—has sought his pre-trial detention. (McFadden denied Hale’s release in March.)

An informant wore a wire to record a conversation with Hale about a “civil war” and military investigators interrogated nearly four dozen of Hale’s co-workers about his alleged “white supremacist” views. (My column explaining the case here.)

Hale was transported to at least five different prisons before arriving in early February at the D.C. jail specifically used to detain January 6 defendants. More than three dozen January 6 detainees are incarcerated at the D.C. Correctional Treatment Facility awaiting trial or plea offers.

Sounds like they are being used as Election year pawns. The fact they to leave them to rot in jail, until the optics are needed says it all.
Their case is going to crumble, and the last thing they need, is 2022 to roll around. And they are brunt of the laughing stock of the world for arresting people for being invited in to tour the Capital by the Police.

What ever happened to the legal principle of 'Habeus Asshoe'?

Putin was right that the US is a major violator of human rights now.

Then the accused walks. End of story.

The Constitution says they have a right to a Speedy Trial. So why are they sitting in prison?

Because our government regularly violates the Constitution. Remember when Obama killed Anwar al-Awlaki?

He was ACCUSED of being a terrorist, and he was an American citizen, he never had a trial, even in absentia, and he was killed with a drone strike ordered by Obama in Yemen.

Now you can be killed the same fucking way! Isn't that grand? Now the grand poo bah meat puppet president, can have you murdered - all he has to do is say "this victim I murdered was a TERRORIST! TRUST ME, I'm the pwezident! I wouldn't lie to you, fucking gullible assholes!"

No trial needed. You see, Obama wasn't impeached over that, then fucking executed, as he should have fucking been.

You see, US citizens have allowed the fucking government to be fucking criminals for fucking decades without consequence. This is why the fucking asshole that was PLACED into power as "president" is claiming the authority to censor individual citizens, a direct violation of the 1st amendment. So, instead of having that fucker impeached, and then executed, we just put up with it.

Until there is pushback, they will just continue to violate the Constitution, as if it doesn't exist to them, and it doesn't exist to them.

Agreed as much as one may despise murderous ecclesiarchies such as in the middle east, condoning the patriot act and denying habeas corpus to citizens back then laid the foundation for t(y)ranny. And as we have seen, the definition of terrorist or insurgent or rayscyst is way more than genderfluid.

You're right.

Bush and Cheney should have been tried for starting the Iraq was under provably false pretenses.

How many died?

The fact that Bush and Cheney are not in jail proves that America is run by corporations, not the people.

The Iraq war proved that oil companies can negate the rule of law at will.

The jab mandates proved that big pharma companies can negate the rule of law at will.

Why do the military and police put up with this?

Military has no say in politics - by DESIGN. Military is also not a law enforcement agency. All the Military can do is project force where the politicians tell them to.

The real question is - Why do voters put up with it?

If the military wants, it overthrows any nation. This is not a design issue, it's as simple as that the military mostly is made up of confromists these days. Things have to get worse for more protests and civil disobedience

In my long read through The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire it became clear to me that real power is always in the military.

When the army wanted someone to become emperor, he became emperor.

When the army wanted an emperor killed, they killed him.

Not if the rioter is behind the pony and the pony is enjoying it.

Sometime in 2022... just in time for the midterm elections. How politically convenient.
