I wanted it to be both rhetorical and informational question at same time... wanted to know if this is specific to french culture.

In muslim world, most of 46 countries. This is way more frequent and legal.

This is the biggest character flaw in people in power to prey on vulnerable.
Never have blind faith in any human especially one with excessive outward virtue signalling.

No, it's not specific to the frogs, as KGK stated. It's worldwide.

There is a huge, and continuing scandal wrt the Catholic Church and sexual abuse in the U.S. New York State, among others, passed extraordinary legislation rescinding the statute of limitations for one year so that anyone could pursue claims against the church. This happened after a mind-blowingly shocking series of hearings and investigations. The Catholic Church in the US is near financial ruin as a result.

As the saying goes, "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." What could be more absolute authority than that which is granted "from God?" We see the saying holds, now, don't we?

My wife likes to say that every large asymmetry in power inevitably causes corruption.

Is this limited to only france?

I attended Notre Dame on campus my freshman year, and was struck by how many of the priests and monks were clearly gay.

Celibacy for priests is an exceptionally bad idea.

It was created so that priests would not have heirs and the Catholic Church would not have to worry about dilution of its assets.

I love Guru Nanak, He systematically dismantled all the "drama" of Hindooo cult. They have spent last many centruries to dismantle his thoughts, But every time fact based explanation come on top like a Occam's razor to explain world around us.

Human sexuality and relationships
Many people look to their faith for guidance on sexual relationships. Sikhs expect everyone to marry. Sex before marriage is generally prohibited.
....
Sikh teaching emphasises the importance of being a grihasti, ie a married person, rather than avoiding marriage. Guru Nanak regarded one of his sons as unsuited to succeed him because he had opted to live as an unmarried, celibate ascetic. Apart from the eighth Guru, Guru Har Krishan, who did not live to adulthood, all the Gurus were married and all had children.

Maybe that is 200,000 per week since 1950.

"Damn. Going to have to fish out some trillions of those treasures assessed and pillaged over the last 1400 years and stored in those Vatican and Swiss Mountain tunnels. This bitch is going to take a lot of payoff. Maybe the Knights of Malta can just snuff the bastards."

The abuse of 330,000 kids was able to be kept silent for decades? Jimmy "the Chin" and his boys would be very proud of that level of Omerta.
