Maybe we should have teens 13-21 live out in the Deep Desert with adult guides, having to learn how to fix things, fight, and prep meals from scratch, so they appreciate shit when they get back to civilization, while being indoctrinated into traditional values?

I think that was mentioned in the sequel.

Heinlein books also had something similar I believe.

No citizenship benefits (no vote, no running for office, gov't benefits, etc.) without it.

It's a powerful weapon against afluenza and unappreciative materialism.

Probably right. They will go to prep schools while their 'time' is recorded as if they lived a preindustrial life.

"No BAR exam without teenage frontier service" wouldn't work.

It used to be called Boy Scouts, before they went bankrupt due to wokies.

Also, refer to Starship Troopers for some good ol' fascist war satire. There is a game HellDivers (now Helldivers II) that also hits home.

The best part of Dune Part 2 was when DEI cast Zendaya as Chani had a hissy fit and stormed out of the room when Paul takes Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh) as his wife. I wonder if the writers realized how it really would come across when they wrote that?

It came across just like this:

No. They probably didn't. They probably thought they were projecting 'strong non-white woman showing she doesn't need the white man!'.

I heard some laughter in the theater. Realized it was me.

Oh, and Christoher Walken's portrayal of a decrepit version of Padisha Emperor Shaddam IV was very Joe Biden. I felt sorry for Walken.

Florence was the Kommie looney honey bit in 'Oppenheimer'? Wasn't shy about doing the nudie scenes. Her acting was weird, too.

Doesn't seem that attractive. She is prolly usual connected show biz wenchling, born on home plate and thinks she hit a homer.

You don't have to go into the desert. It's called being a parent. That's where people fail. Your kids should want to work and do things. I don't parse words either with them. My filter doesn't exist. I'm raising my kids to be men. My childhood was a golden hell if that makes sense. Country club boy and then laying a 200 yard brick driveway. Mowing 8 acres weekly. Painting the two houses we had, inside and out. Finishing a basement in one solo. Much more.

I've contemplated writing a book about my life. It's therapeutic to write. I could probably just print my Patnet comments and half of it would be written for me. I've avoided doxing myself so you cats have only probably heard 5% of my stories in some form. There's a lot. I've lived a strange but good life.

Dads with Daughters thank you. There's a LOT of beta out there.
