https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/sep/09/jessica-krug-white-scholar-black-latina

Last week the historian Jessica Krug confessed that she had spent years engaged in a racial masquerade, taking on a North African, Black American, and later a Black Caribbean identity when she was in fact a white Jewish woman from Kansas City.

Krug’s confession was likely a pre-emptive move because she was about to be exposed. ...

Over the course of her life Krug built an identity based on the worst stereotypes, beliefs and supposed dysfunctions of Black and Latinx people. It is bad enough that she pretended to be Black or Latina; worse, she portrayed herself as the daughter of addicts battling overdoses and suicide attempts on the “streets” of the Barrio. She claimed to be the only person in her family to go to college, took on caricaturesque anti-racist stances, and engaged in racist cosplay under the nonsensical name of “Jess La Bombalera.” If anyone questioned her white appearance, she would retort that her mother was a drug-addicted sex worker who her white father had raped. ...

And while her performance made her Black and Latinx colleagues uncomfortable, many avoided questioning her because she was prone to level accusations that we were “assimilated” if we did not exhibit the “authentic” culture of our communities or failed to live up to her hyperbolic radical politics. ...

Many wonder if she will continue to profit from her minstrelsy by writing a tell-all book, as did Rachel Dolezal.

LOL, using BLM threats of cancelling against BLM itself!

Even better, profiting from the manipulative, greedly, and violent BLM movement.

The guy who sent me this link included this comment:

they resent that she "stole" their "commodity" that, in the present "woke" climate, they can use to advance their /OWN/ careers and agendas

their "true" "identity" has a rising market value, and they bitterly resent that she /SUCCESSFULLY COUNTERFEITED AND SOLD/ "their" commodity

Jews have always been masters of altered identities, both for marketing reasons and for self-preservation. The movie Zelig is about this fact: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086637/

...

Not like this is anything new among the white liberal women community .... Pocahontas Elizabeth Warren says " Yeah so what bout Jessica Krug ?been there, done that " ...

And I bet you it is a lot more common in government, academia, mainstream media, etc. then the media will report ....

Maybe she should get her DNA tested to show her black ancestry.

She diid not break any laws. Her exposure is an embarrassment to the school that should no longer be practicing affirmative action.

It's all about self-declaration anyway, Nobody checks DNA.

That's because melanin or human skin tone (i.e.. color) is not directly linked to DNA.

You can have someone who is 50% African DNA that does not appear on the surface as being of African ancestry (ie.., facial features, skin tone, etc.). Does Derek Jeter look like he is African American even though his father is ? Or how about Rashida Jones the daughter of Quincy Jones ?

It depends on which is the dominant gene, case in point examine the children of NYC Mayor Deblasio.

The same applies to Hispanics / Latinos and features that are indigenous or Mayan.

It is. I had a friend who got into a professional school with average grades pretending to be Mexican ( half portugese, half yugoslavian).

Several 'minority' admissions were pretty ludicrous all the way around in my programs. Like I said, sometimes the administrators are grateful for the diversity fakeout artists, because although they would not have gotten in otherwise, they had the minimal skills to carry the programs through without a bunch of remedial shit.

I can see why the administrators are grateful since the diversity or minority posers are more likely to graduate without having to lower any standards or providing special exemptions or privileges.

Yes, but there is no verification process in place, and so anyone can claim anything. It's on the honor system, basically. Elizabeth Warren, a prominent case in point.

Then we can al be "minority" vendors and bilk the taxpayers just the same.

Hey, if somebody can ignore an entire organ system and half of the billions of cells in their body, they can certainly ignore 0.0001% of DNA that makes up race.

Let's all identify as Black.

Canada's "indigenous health expert" loses her job after it turns out she's a white lady who's been lying about being Native American her whole career

May be schools do not check strictly. Way back, I know someone’s child pretended Mexican heritage despite the fact the father warned him against. At college a clerk asked him, you look like a white 6 ft blue eyes blond hair, are you sure you are Mexican! He said that told them his mother side down some one from Mexico! The Clark kind of smiled at him but did nothing to him.

They got to fill their quota. I don't think there are any consequences to lying besides public shaming if it was found out like Liz Warren and others. I could be wrong as I believe we have a few collegiate level teachers at Patnet. Maybe on loans or scholarships for lying, as that's a form of fraud technically.

Mexican is too specific. Hispanic is better.

BTW, if they say it's advantageous to pretend to be a POC, how does this co-exist with "systemic racism" in their heads?

I do not remember exact specific. You should be right that the first ones more of a nationality the second one is ethnicity, race whatever.

Is somebody born in Spain a Hispanic? I think he is by definition. If somebody from, say, Germany, whose grandfather was born in Spain a Hispanic? I think he is too just like somebody whose grandfather was a Cherokee is considered a Cherokee.
Until they come up with official scull dimentions for proper Hispanics, that is. =))

Elon Mask is African-American, btw. =))

I don't get why race is even a question in colleges. Let's educate the best and brightest. If you can't get in, there's nothing wrong with being a plumber, electrician, mechanic, etc. Right now those are well paying jobs. Should have studied harder or gone to a CC for 2 years and aced everything. But hey, you're black, you're in.

"It isn't a lie if you believe it"

Turned out Suzanne "My name is Luka" Vega thought she was Mexican for years, apparently her mom left the father when she was an infant and she was told the new dad was her dad. She's really English-Irish. Not a surprise when you see how pale and fair she is.

"Oh, well I thought I was Cherokee/Mexican/Whatever"

I heard yesterday on NPR that the other (not Scarlett Johansson) chick in "Vicky, Christina, Barcelona" is apparently "black", because her grandpa was allegedly of mixed black/am.indian origin and she now uses her "experience" to write and direct some movie about black woman passing as white. Was she lying when nobody knew she's "black"? Is she lying now? Impossible to prove either way. "It never came up until now, so there".
