YouTube alternative Rumble announced the testing of its first ever live stream – one of the features that are increasingly in demand among both mainstream and alternative platforms’ userbases.

Rumble – that says it is already serving over 3 million creators, and is independently owned without being beholden to venture capitalists or large companies – first announced it would be live streaming former President Donald Trump’s address at the Conservative Political Action Conference 2021 event, dubbed, “America Uncanceled.”

Rumble reported that a record number of people had tuned in to watch the livestream, specifying that the numbers were close to 100,000 concurrent users and approaching over 500,000 total viewers, and then announcing, “We did it and flawlessly. Rumble is ready for more.”

The reaction from commenters was mostly positive, reporting a smooth viewing experience, as well as praising the platform for incorporating closed captions for hearing impaired users.

And while it’s still early days for live streaming on Rumble, it’s no surprise this Canada-based alternative video hosting service – that is supported and widely used by conservatives and libertarians in the turbulent and censorship-laden post-election period – has decided to start testing and implementing this feature.

Namely, live streaming, although by no means a new feature on social networks, has recently seen a huge growth in popularity, particularly with the lockdowns, even giving rise to a new class of livestream-only apps like Clubhouse, along with established, Big Tech ones like Amazon’s Twitch and Google’s YouTube.

The way the pandemic and lockdowns have helped live streaming gain in popularity is human nature, as people isolated in their homes for months seek a sense of communication that is most similar to actual human contact and community.

Rumble, backed by political commentator Dan Bongino, might not be wrong to hitch its wagon to the live streaming trend, because it is still a largely untapped part of the video hosting market and is only projected to grow, both among users and marketers.

Ensuring growth among those categories is of key importance for Big Tech alternatives looking to become viable competitors.

Rumble is now seeking creators who live stream gaming, crypto, stocks, lifestyle, and sports.

YouTube To Ban All Videos Except The One Showing Stephen Colbert Dancing With People Dressed As Vaccines

SAN BRUNO, CA—In an effort to prevent the spread of anti-vax misinformation, YouTube has announced that all videos that have ever been uploaded to their platform will be removed, except that one video that shows Steven Colbert dancing with people dressed as vaccines.

"We feel this is the responsible thing to do with our platform," said CEO Susan Wojcicki. "People can now visit YouTube and visit the Stephen Colbert 'Vax-Scene' video as many times as they want! Isn't that great! What a cute and hilarious video! We hope this will encourage many more people to get vaccinated."

People who visit the website will have the option of watching that video or leaving the site. It will be offered in high definition, in addition to having subtitles.

YouTube made the update to the site this morning. At the time of this writing, the video still has no views.

Why do you think they have banned you?

All my comments are deleted on youtube, because I'm a political dissident. I was doing evil things like getting people to think maybe they've been deceived or that something that is a commonly held belief is false.
69   Tenpoundbass   2021 Dec 3, 8:34am

Rumble has eons of a way to go, they don't have one single live stream of any important events. Never ever, just no!
That is mother fucking suspect as FUCK!

This is 2021 God damn it! And they keep trying to hint that they are a Youtube replacement.

I don't know about you guys, but watching cute cat videos is the last fucking thing I do on Youtube.

That being said, Youtube has gone so far down the tubes, Youtube is no longer Youtube not in any meaningful way.

I can no longer kill my boredom by watching videos in organic suggested videos.

I am also finding the pool of videos to look at is getting puny and microscopic compared to what they were. Even at my friends house watching Youtube on his 85 inch smart tv. I was noticing yesterday, he's seeing the same videos as I am. Though we normally search for different shit, and watch totally different videos. Then why is the home screen, and browsing menu of suggested videos 80% of the same shit I see on my Smart TV inside, the Computer in my office, and the laptop I also use? I watch different content on those as well. All showing the same suggested content.

It's a fucking shame about Rumble is just honey trap for patriots to kid themselves and believe it's a free speech platform. But the CIA and FBI watchers are just waiting for some fool to upload a video threatening the man and the system, as they grow tired of the tyranny That's all Rumble is, don't fool yourselves. if they were real, they would be everything Youtube isn't right now. Youtube isn't even Youtube anymore and still Rumble sucks worse than Youtube.

Oh and as for your awesome wonderful Duck Duck Go, everyone loves to have mental intercourse with, can you explain to me, why you have never EVER seen one fucking Rumble video in a DDG search result? I mean we can understand why not on Google, as it competes with YT. But what's DDG's excuse? Especially when people talk about alternative Censor free tech. One would think they would have a partnership and promote each other.

YMMV, don't believe the hype.
70   Tenpoundbass   2021 Dec 3, 8:41am

Re Youtube has seen far better days.

I think the very thing that is and will continue killing off Youtube. Is before they had all of the conservative and right leaning content for them push back against, and try to paint as racists. The commies, jerkoffs and all around fuckfaces over at Youtube, were so consumed watching what Conservative content creators may or may not say, that they left the rest of the site wide open. People were able to get a lot of content past the YT censors. Youtubbers would post Movies with a different tittle, and anomalies in the soundtrack, and a few cut scenes. It would be enough that Youtubes Copyright AI detection wouldn't pick it up. I've seen movies that were in the theaters for less than a week. But after they kicked off the Conservatives, they had the full resources to police the content better. Well it turns out, almost 80% of their content all these years violated Copyright laws in one way or another, so they are all gone. The rest of the shit they didn't kick off YT, they shadow banned it. So the only way you'll ever find it, is if you know what you're searching for and actually searched for it. It will never come up in a related obscure search. Unless you search title and creator of the video.

If they keep going like this, YT will go the way AOL. Once a resource the world thought they could never do without, done in by their own stupidity.

Youtube and Google had the opportunity to entirely decimate the media complex entirely, utterly destroying it. Making CNN, CBS, NY Times, you name it - obsolete, as well as all television stations.

Yeah, they got bought off - which was a stupid thing to do. Now, they are going to go the way of CNN, CBS, NY Times, you name it.

Sure, companies will keep getting bought off, but it gets easier and easier and easier to make a search engine, and a display platform. What a few engineers can do today, took hundreds, if not thousands of engineers to do 20 years ago.

If Rumble gets bought out, they will be as relevant as Yahoo! is today within a few years, if not faster.

You can keep bribing people to prevent them from giving the public what the public wants, but eventually, you are going to get a few dozen people who are like "I'm already rich, fuck it. I wouldn't know what to do with an extra 20 billion dollars anyhow".

All people want is voluntary interaction. Youtube did the hard work of finding out what people wanted, then they were bribed to stop giving them that. All Rumble is doing is what Youtube USED to do, minute 100's of thousands of hours of market research. If Rumble starts to engage in censorship (well, unjustified censorship) they won't last long. They'll be abandoned. Small content creators no longer bother with Youtube much that I've noticed. They've largely realized it's a rigged game, so they don't even bother trying there.

Would the new search engine require building and manning a server farm? You would need something to handle thousands of requests and quickly process results.
75   Tenpoundbass   2021 Dec 10, 6:38am

I was over at Rumble yesterday. For a site that is making a big deal out of the Trump merger. .
Rumble still doestn't have shit to look at. I don't think Rumble told everybody to upload content there. It's like nobody knows the fucking site exists.
I clicked on the news section from their home page. 3 days fit on the first paginated page. I would like to see one day fit on one page and half. Or at least get two days on one page. But three days on one page is quite shitty. I'm talking about Video thumbnails too, not a page of just links, that could be understandable.

Rumbles navigation is very lacking as well. Their puny right side menu of related videos sucks balls too. The home page gives you the impression, that, that is all the videos even posted on Rumble.

I want to love Rumble but I think there are far better YouRube alternatives out there.

What's that one that has been around for a while, shows all of the unreleased videos about crimes in the news, that the media doesn't release? Live something.
Even BitChute has more quality content than Rumble.

And what's up that Rumble doesn't even show up in Google? Or any search engine for that matter, not even our beloved Duck Duck Google Interloper.

And seriously what's up with no Live content?
76   NuttBoxer   2021 Dec 10, 8:24am

Heard Rumble agreed to censor anti-Jewish opinions. Still better WAY than gootube, but may not be the free speech oasis you hope for.

I can't stress enough how much power you have in your pocket today. 1000's of search requests? No problem. You don't want to build a server farm, what you want is a distributed network.

The weakpoint we have right now is that there's a single source. Having a corporation promise not to censor, that's fine, but it's just a promise. What has to be built a system that the creators of the system can't censor. There's some real moral questions with doing this, but perhaps we can mitigate it by identifying who connects to whom, meta data.

There's a balance between authority and freedom.

Government keeps betraying us though. There's terrible horrible downsides on complete freedom of speech, but there's also the same with a totalitarian corrupt government.

That horrific incident happened because of a private network. They can be infiltrated, and I'm certain they weren't using novel tools, just a web page to log in with a credit card or something.

Are people basically good or evil? The world seems basically evil, but I think it's because of dominance. There may be a very positive effect by making communication strictly adhere to the 1st amendment. Maybe the reason the world sucks so bad, is that communication is limited. Maybe censorship is the worse evil. We'll find out though. I hope it's for the best. The last thing the nerds of 90's will do is make entirely uncensorable communication. Seems we have to.

83   Tenpoundbass   2022 Jan 27, 8:38am

I really really REALLY want to love Rumble, but the only thing it has going for it. Is they don't censor content.
The bad part is, there isn't any fucking content, they suck balls!
Every fucking time I see a Rumble video in a Conservative news story, the fucking view window is locked to a tiny video I can't fucking see. The useless sorry stupid fucks, lock the full screen, and will NOT allow you to view it on Rumble. I'm so disgusted by the sight of Rumble I don't even bother looking at the video anymore. What's the fucking use, I use a desktop not my phone, and that 3 inch by 4 inch viewing screen, just pisses me off. I go look at YouRube every time, if I'm still interested.
Then when I go to Rumble, and do manage to catch one decent video. The 5 or 6 suggest videos on the side, are cute cat videos. You go to the home page, and there's nothing. The navigation the search everything about it sucks. My Daughter second year in college working on her Computer Science degree made a better interface for her midterm a couple months back.

I like LiveLeak, and BitChute, has some decent content. And most always when I'm sent to those other services, there's enough related content to keep me there for a couple hours or until I get bored.

I've never caught a second video on Rumble EVER! Not just ONCE!

Speaking of live content, I watched the Ron Johnson live second opinion. It was long, so I would pause it as I would go in and out doing other things around the house.
But at some point, the stream ended, and unlike YouTube, it didn't just convert into a 3 or 4 hour video. It was gone. After the conference was over, Rumble said video did not exist when I tried to resume.

Yeah, if Trump is somehow involved, I'm beginning to think the deal merger was about Rumble upgrading it's image by using Trump's name. And it wasn't a financial arrangement where Trump gave them money to upgrade, and get up to speed It was most likely Rumble giving Trump money to say they are best buds now.
Because I'm not seeing anything on Rumble that says they have a billionaire backer.

@Tenpoundbass - you're just missing something here:

Click play first by clicking the center of the window. At the bottom of the window, on the lower right, you will see a little window and "Rumble" appear. If you click the window, it goes full screen, if you click "Rumble" it takes you to the original site where it was posted.

Youtube is a dead man walking. I'm telling you - within 5 years, it will be about as popular as MySpace. Remember that?

I'm not a fan of YouTube, but if you're going to make a Youtube replacement, at least make desired content easy to find.

Youtube was the master of knowing what you want to see, based on what you are watching. They were until the last 4 years or so, then they destroyed that algorithm, and replaced it with a Propaganda injection algorithm.

It's not hard to duplicate that. Netflix does this. In fact, I'd say IMDB did this first. It matched what you gave positive reviews for with other people who had similar points of view on something they also saw. It was just doing correlation. If person A like a,b,c,d,e,f and g and person B liked a,b,d,f,h,j,m and n - both were given suggestions for what didn't overlap.

It's not hard to do.

BUT you need to log in for it work. Have you noticed cookies now ask for permission (constantly) - that's to limit competition. Before it was under the hood and using cookies to track your viewing habits. Can do that anymore.. That's regulation for ya!

“Ukraine on Fire,” a 2016 documentary that details historical conflicts in the country, such as the 2004 Orange Revolution and the 2014 overthrow of the Ukrainian government, has been banned by YouTube for violating the tech giant’s “violent or graphic content policy.” ...

Lopatonok added that he plans to open the rights to another of his documentaries, “Revealing Ukraine,” and make it available as a direct download on Vimeo.

Additionally, Lopatonok created a Rumble account and uploaded a copy of Ukraine on Fire.

“We are fighting back against #YouTube #censorship,” Lopatonok tweeted. “Just uploaded our with @TheOliverStone

Numerous YouTube and Rumble users have posted copies of Ukraine on Fire to YouTube and Rumble since Lopatonok opened the rights to the public. Copies of the documentary have also been uploaded to the free speech video sharing platforms Odysee and BitChute.
