This one's on you, Pete! Emirates president calls 5G fiasco the 'most delinquent' mess he's seen in his 50-year career as he slams Biden administration and for doing nothing to stop the chaos as dozens of flights are canceled then UNCANCELED

AT&T and Verizon launched their 5G network across America, turning on 4,500 new towers

The network has not yet launched near some US airports due to concerns over safety

The telecoms giants agreed at the last minute on Tuesday to halt the rollout near those airports

By the time they did, international airlines had already canceled dozens of flights that were scheduled

Now, they are rushing to bring those flights back onto schedules and find the staff necessary

Emirates President Tim Clark says he only learned of the 5G risks on Monday

He blames the FAA and the Biden administration for not doing more to stop the chaos

Delta says some flights will be canceled and BAs says some airports still aren't safe - but won't say which

Air India, Emirates, Japan Airlines and All Nippon all canceled flights scheduled for Wednesday

Two questions:

Why do you distrust American media and call it fake news, then quote stories from British tabloids?

What the flying fuck does affirmative action have to do with the 5G rollout and airline flight schedules? It's like these thread titles get autogenerated by a right wing keyword stuffing bot.

Maybe you like this better:

International airlines suspend some US flights over 5G uncertainty

"We are frustrated by the FAA's inability to do what nearly 40 countries have done, which is to safely deploy 5G technology without disrupting aviation services, and we urge it do so in a timely manner," Megan Ketterer, a spokesperson for AT&T, said.

Mayor Pete was not appointed the U.S. Secretary of Transportation based upon experience, which is a constant theme in the Biden administration.

What nobody has done here is make a causative connection between the two. This is the right wing fake news formula to a T. Write about a situation you don't like. Write about a politician and elected official you don't like. Everyone who already likes the conclusion you reached does the same thing- fills the gap between the two things in their heads, where no tangible connection exists or can be articulated. When people question it, repeat the claims and use ad hominem toward people who don't make the same assumptions out of nothing or presume inferred connections actually exist.

And apparently even MORE painful for people who believe it to articulate what they believe, despite the insistently claimed obviosity. Instead you're arguing like a woman and resorting to SIGN language.

I wouldn't't characterize the DailyMail as "right wing." As with all issues, do your homework. You can find critical stories, like the CNN one (hardly right wing), out there, beyond the DailyMail. If they all point to bungling and incompetence, it may actually be true. And Mayor Pete, like Kamala, is there because of identity politics. Here is another one - Xavier Becerra - head of HHS with absolutely zero medical or science training. But he has a Spanish surname - bingo!

Merit matters, else go to a transgender surgeon with no degree or training, cause it makes some people feels good.

The problem with this 5G rollout in the USA is that it uses frequencies near what is used in aviation. Is that the entirety of the technical problem? I'm wondering if other countries skipped the problem entirely by not allowing 5G networks to run in similar frequency band.

If it's just a matter of frequency overlap, then the beginning of this problem was several years ago when that spectrum overlap was created. That would be before Mayor Pete. What was the plan then and why did that plan not get followed or not work? It does seem that the current predicament was at least partly the responsibility of Pete, as shutting down transportation at the last moment seems like an abrupt and less-than-optimal outcome.

Automan is right when he notes that various political parties are, as usual, making political hey over this. And, while I'm sure there is plenty of blame to go around, the news sites sure don't seem to be very forthcoming with what people used to call "news reporting." Let's see an explanation and timeline of events that lead to the current situation.

I think 5G uses dramatically higher frequencies, so the signal won't go as far, so they need towers all over the place, or high power.

And those things really could affect human biology.

It's interesting that the somewhat forced rollout of 5G in USA on Jan. 20th corresponds exactly to the oft cited 11.3 of Q i.e. one year from the phony inauguration of the fake president. That is the day that the Woo artists say the DOD Law of War manual section 11.3 allows a 'belligerent occupier' to occupy before military action takes place against them without any consideration.

The belief is that the military knows that the belligerent occupation of the foreign occupied foreign city state of Washington DC was, in fact, a foreign occupation. The 'peaceful transfer of power' cited last year meant that a one year delta is observed while the belligerent occupier declares its intents, negotiates etc.

Do the Globalists want 5G in place as a weaponized extortion against the military re-occupying the belligerent, occupying foreign power(s) that control DC. Do they want weaponized 5G a point of extortion, like Covid?

I guess we are on the cusp. Will the Globalists manage to kill us off faster than the military white hats can re-occupy DC? We'll know shortly if the Woo knows or it's just more smoke being blown up the collective ass.

LOL! According to the Woo, the military regards us as governed by the belligerently occupied territory of Washington DC. It sure feels that way.

Butteggegg wasn't a diversity hire.

He was told to get out of Biden's way, and offered the Transportation Secretary role which he will profit from by accelerating deals and/or negotiating contracts with certain companies in return for future support & no show consulting jobs for patronage purposes. It will also give him a "Former Secretary" title to use on his resume down the road and give him Federal Experience to campaign with since he's merely the Mayor of a 3rd Tier Rustbelt City.

Klobuchar, Butteggegg, and Bernie were the front runners. The first two were paid off, and Bernie was "Divided into Extinction" by having Warren stay in the race for Super Tuesday, splitting the Hard Left Vote. With the hard left vote split between Bernie and Warren, and two of the top tier candidates who were flush with campaign cash and had placed tops in most of the primaries before then mysteriously dropped out with "no questions from the Controlled Media" about such an odd development, Biden could then be the Compromise Candidate for the rest of the Dems.

Single digit early dropout Korrupt Kamala, who took cash and influence to drop cases when she was SF DA, and who could have various aspects of her history embellished (tough on crime by imprisoning weed heads) (Bailout for BLM arsonists) or downplayed, was a safe China-friendly backup in case of Biden illness or death. Obama via Klain are running the WH anyway.

That was the GOP plan for 2016. Have Cruz grab the religious voters, Rubio the liberal Republicans, and Kasich the Working Class "Lakes Regions" vote, and as a backup. Then declare Low Energy Jeb the Nominee after Cruz and Rubio "graciously gave their electors" to Jeb!!!, the GOP insider "Compromise Candidate". Who would be indistinguishable from Hillary, weak on wokeness, and in love with China.

Mayor Pete would not have been a credible choice for president. Yes, sheeple were swayed by the flattering MSM propaganda, but he lacked experience and a good deal of voters, including blacks, would just not vote for a homosexual. Now Klobuchar was clearly the victim of affirmative action, and, but for her race, could have been a pick for VP. What did she get in the bargain, exactly? I do remember when Bernie was in the lead. I would say Warren was bought off.

Thanks, Al, for the links. So, it looks like there's an international standard for the frequencies used in aviation. The US FCC decided to use frequences somewhat lower for some part of the 5G spectrum. The FCC determined that there was enough gap between the 5G spectrum and the aviation spectrum. The airlines cried, in fact, that there was not enough gap and worried that without changing hardware in planes there could be danger over mixed signals. Then, it seems, the airlines didn't want to spend the money or effort to make changes and so played chicken with the FCC.

I can now use up my whole month's bandwidth in 5 minutes! Yay!

I believe 5G has two modes... One is pretty much an evolution of 4G/LTE and offers only marginally improved functionality and speed. That's exactly as clambo says: you'll have a hard time noticing.

The other mode uses high-frequency spectrum, which doesn't go around corners or through walls very well, but offers an enormous speed increase. It won't work in conventional residential or business districts because of shadowing. Maybe it could compete in the non-mobile space with each building having an antenna and it's own modem that serves out local wifi to the building. The big excitement for the high-frequency, though is in stadiums... put 50k subscribers in a football stadium and conventional 4G is completely overwhelmed. If 5G can give 10x to 100x the speed, you can hopefully serve the entire crowd with marginally acceptable speed.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has recently taken action to reallocate a portion of the 3.7–4.2 GHz frequency band, making the frequency spectrum from 3.7–3.98 GHz available for flexible use including 5G applications. This spectrum will be auctioned to new licensees beginning in December 2020. The aviation industry noted in the FCC rulemaking process that deployment of 5G networks in this frequency band may introduce harmful radio frequency (RF) interference to radar altimeters currently operating in the globally-allocated 4.2–4.4 GHz aeronautical band. Radar altimeters are deployed on tens of thousands of civil aircraft in the United States and worldwide to support several critical safety-of-life aircraft functions throughout multiple phases of flight. Radar altimeters are the only sensor onboard a civil aircraft which provides a direct measurement of the clearance height of the aircraft over the terrain or other obstacles, and failures of these sensors can therefore lead to incidents with catastrophic results resulting in multiple fatalities.

The aviation industry has explained to the FCC that further study was needed to adequately characterize the performance of currently fielded radar altimeters operating in the presence of RF interference from future 5G networks in the 3.7–3.98 GHz band, as well as the risk of harmful interference and associated impacts to safe aviation operations, such that appropriate mitigations could be employed before such 5G networks begin operation. RTCA Special Committee 239 (SC-239) formed a 5G Task Force in April 2020 to lead this study effort as a multi-stakeholder group with open participation from the interested public.

Using technical information supplied by the mobile wireless industry and radar altimeter manufacturers, this report provides a quantitative evaluation of radar altimeter performance regarding RF interference from expected 5G emissions in the 3.7–3.98 GHz band, as well as a detailed assessment of the risk of such interference occurring and impacting aviation safety. This process included testing of many representative radar altimeter models to empirically determine their tolerance to expected 5G interference signals; the development of interference models and assumptions to predict the received interference levels across a wide range of operational scenarios, such that they may be compared to the empirical tolerance limits; and a thorough study of multiple real-world operational scenarios for civil aircraft in which the presence of the expected 5G interference will result in a direct impact to aviation safety.

The results presented in this report reveal a major risk that 5G telecommunications systems in the 3.7–3.98 GHz band will cause harmful interference to radar altimeters on all types of civil aircraft—including commercial transport airplanes; business, regional, and general aviation airplanes; and both transport and general aviation helicopters. The results of the study performed clearly indicate that this risk is widespread and has the potential for broad impacts to aviation operations in the United States, including the possibility of catastrophic failures leading to multiple fatalities, in the absence of appropriate mitigations.

The extent of the RF interference is summarized by the worst-case exceedance of the safe interference limit of radar altimeters by expected 5G signals in the 3.7–3.98 GHz band: 14 dB for commercial transport airplanes (as shown in Figure 10-4), 48 dB for business, regional, and general aviation airplanes (as shown in Figure 10-12), and 45 dB for helicopters (as shown in Figure 10-16). Further, the impacts are not only limited to the intentional emissions from 5G systems in the 3.7–3.98 GHz band, but also the spurious emissions from such systems within the protected 4.2–4.4 GHz radar altimeter band directly. In this latter case, the worst- case exceedance of the safe interference limit is 28 dB for business, regional, and general aviation airplanes (as shown in Figure 10-25), and 12 dB for helicopters (as shown in Figure 10-29).

Given the extent to which the safe interference limits are exceeded and the breadth of the impacts to aviation safety, the risk of harmful interference to radar altimeters cannot be adequately mitigated by the aviation industry acting alone. As such, it is envisioned that this report will be useful to those in the aviation industry, the mobile wireless industry, and both aviation and spectrum regulators to understand and take appropriate steps in a timely fashion to mitigate this risk. It is the responsibility of members of all of these groups to work together to ensure that safety-critical aviation systems will continue to be protected for the purposes of public safety.

And crank up the 5G.

Since only fully vaxxed are allowed in stadiums, it would once and for all dispel the conspiracy theory that the vaxxed are going to spontaneously combust when they turn on the new system.
