LONDON (Reuters) -Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that Moscow's military "tasks" in Ukraine now went beyond the eastern Donbas region, in the clearest acknowledgment yet that its war goals have expanded in the past five months.

In an interview with state news agency RIA Novosti, Lavrov said geographical realities had changed since Russian and Ukrainian negotiators held peace talks in Turkey in late March that failed to produce any breakthrough.

At that time, he said, the focus was on the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), self-styled breakaway entities in eastern Ukraine from which Russia has said it aims to drive out Ukrainian government forces.

"Now the geography is different, it's far from being just the DPR and LPR, it's also Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions and a number of other territories," he said, referring to territories well beyond the Donbas that Russian forces have wholly or partly seized.

"This process is continuing logically and persistently," he said, adding that Russia might need to push even deeper.

If the West, out of "impotent rage" or desire to aggravate the situation further, kept pumping Ukraine with long-range weapons such as the U.S.-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), "that means the geographical tasks will extend still further from the current line", Lavrov said.

Russia could not allow Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy "or whoever replaces him" to threaten its territory or that of the DPR and LPR with the longer-range systems, he said - referring casually, and without any evidence, to the possibility that the Ukrainian leader might not remain in power.

The foreign minister is the most senior figure to speak openly of Russia's war goals in territorial terms, nearly five months after President Vladimir Putin launched his invasion with a denial that Russia intended to occupy its neighbour.

Then argue against providing money for foreign wars without making judgement about what happens in those countries engaged in war.

I'm NOT making any judgement about what happens in that war.

The US overthrew Ukraine in 2014. This is NOT debatable. People who say this didn't happen are either profoundly retarded, or dishonest. You don't have fucking Victoria Nuland picking out the next leader of Ukraine 2 weeks and 4 days before the "revolution" if the "revolution" isn't under US control.

The US PURPOSELY caused this war, and were the scumbags that run this country were cumming all over themselves when it started. Within ONE WEEK the "pandemic" was over, and it was SLAVA UKRAINI all over the propaganda sites. This war will last as long as the US can keep it going. As long as a SINGLE Ukrainian is left to fight it will continue, and it might go longer than that.

Bd6r says

Unfortunately your factual knowledge about those countries is quite minimal so you have to retort to whataboutism.

What?

Bd6r says

BTW I have never advocated for US involvement in Ukraine, it is a European problem. However, from standpoint of fairness I hope that aggressor, that is Russia with its botoxed leader, will lose the war and will be dismembered so that they can not attack anyone any more.

Russia will resort to nuclear weaponry before that happens.

The US PURPOSELY caused this war,

Now you are making a judgement which you are not qualified to make, again.

Russia purposely caused this war. They were preparing for it as early as in 1994-1995. People in former Soviet military leadership talked about this in 1990's:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IavEOx3hUAk

Djokhar Dudaev had an exceptional predictive ability here, long before anyone saw this. Perhaps his knowledge comes from belonging to former top Soviet Union military brass - he was a major general of Soviet Army.

I am not denying that this war is in interests of Washington neocons, but it would have happened even without their involvement.

Oh no, I'm extremely qualified to make this conclusion. The United States and Britain have been fucking with Russia for years now. The Skipals, for example, weren't poisoned - that was just more propaganda. The US caused the conflict between Georgia and S. Ossetia and then lied and claimed Russia invaded Georgia. The US is at war in Syria partially to remove Russia's ONLY middle eastern military base there. The US has been interfering with ALL of Russia's pipelines going into Europe. They have made sanctions against them over and over again, based on complete bullshit.

The US has been itching for a war ever since Putin started putting his thumbs down on the criminal mafia that runs Russia. The oligarchs.

Russia has been invaded through Ukraine twice. They'll destroy it, and kill every Ukrainian before they allow that again. They've been QUITE CLEAR for years about their intentions. Ever since the US overthrew Ukraine, Russia has been plain and very clear about consequences and their security concerns.

See above, 1995 was way before any government changes. You are ignoring this yet again because the facts here go against your ideological beliefs.

Russia has been invaded through Ukraine twice. They'll destroy it, and kill every Ukrainian before they allow that again.

According to that logic, Poland, Finland, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia should invade Russia and kill all Russians. Or is this type of behavior is allowed only for Russia?

And what's the source for this? The government that claimed Saddamn Hussein had a weapons of mass destruction program and that "we can't wait for the proof to come in the form of a mushroom cloud"?

The US government has no credibility. They are liars. They just stole an election to install a pedophile into the presidency. They allowed Jeffrey Epstein to run a child prostitution ring and didn't prosecute a single one of his clients.

Bd6r says

Latter means that US fucking or not fucking with Russia has little relevance to Russian invasion.

The US overthrew Ukraine, they have over 40 BL5 labs there. What the fuck is the US doing having biological weapons labs in Ukraine?

This whole war is the fault of the US government.

The war government, that makes war constantly, impoverishes it's own people, that can't afford $13 billion dollars for wall between Mexico and the US, but can spen $40 billion dollars on "aid" to Ukraine.

I'm tired of you cocksuckers to our government. Our government is clearly an enemy, they work to impoverish us and spread misery, not just among us, but among the entire world.

I'm kind of glad to see the chickens coming home to roost. Americans have no concept of civic duty, so fuck them. Let them suffer.

I'm tired of you useful idiots, that I'm forced to work against. You're stupid peons that I cannot convert. You will suck government dick endlessly, and will never see they are fucking over the entire country.

Our government is a domestic enemy. What the fuck does an American farmer care about a war in Ukraine? Yet he pays for it, and when he pays for it, well, that increases his cost for food production. Tired of you fucking go-along-to-get along pussies. We don't have foreign enemies, we have domestic ones.

Looks like the panic over HIMARS has settled in:

Russian air-defense troops just shot down one of the most sophisticated warplanes involved in Russia’s wider war in Ukraine.

One problem. It was a Russian warplane. A brand-new Sukhoi Su-34M fighter-bomber.

Russian propagandist Yevgeny Poddubny apparently captured on video the Sunday shoot-down over the city of Alchevsk in Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine. “Last night, the air-defense crew of the allied forces destroyed a target in the sky over Alchevsk,” Poddubny wrote Monday. “The nature of the target is not clear. The burning ball fell to the ground for more than a minute.”

A video of the wreckage confirmed the plane’s identity: it’s an Su-34M with the registry RF-95890, one of just 10 or so Su-34Ms that Sukhoi so far has delivered to the Russian air force.""

""Russian air defense fires at HIMARS missiles, downs Russian aviation flagship - Russian media

The Russian Su-34 M is likely to have been shot down by a Russian air defense system in the Alchevsk area.

The Russian media reported the news.

"At the time of the destruction of the fighter-bomber, Ukrainian HIMARS surface-to-air missiles were firing at Alchevsk, and the Su-34 ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time in the zone of operation of the Russian air defense system for HIMARS missiles," the Military Informant report says.

The Insider notes that the crew ejected successfully and were evacuated.

The loss of the Russian fighter was recorded by Oryx, one of the most authoritative OSINT resources that collect data on the loss of military equipment during the war in Ukraine.

"Russian air defense mistakenly shot down its own Su-34 near Alchevsk, Luhansk region," the experts said in a report.

The Insider believes that the video with fragments of the crashed plane shows a rare Su-34M (M stands for 'modernized' - we are talking about a sample with an updated electronic system, high-precision weapons systems and a set of several hanging containers with intelligence equipment) with the aircraft number RF-95890 from the 277th Bombardment Aviation Regiment of the 303rd Mixed Aviation Division of the 11th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Eastern Military District.

One of the two bridges forming a major supply line for Ruscists troops in Kherson damaged by HIMARS: https://www.facebook.com/censor.net/videos/785507269135485/

I'm not a structural engineer but from looks of it that bridge won't be able to carry anything heavier than a passenger car. And, judging by the tight grouping, it won't be hard to repeat it as many times as necessary.

If the railroad bridge next to it is put out of comission too Ruscists would find themselves in a neat little cauldron surrounded by Ukie forces, 1km-wide river and the Black Sea.

Yesterday/today, putinoids for the first time in a while used aviation in the areas where they attempt to advance. This means that artillery no longer does it. Which, in turn, seems like a direct result of the increased length of the supply lines and overall complications with logistics. They had to pull back the depots and just can't deliver ammo to the front lines at the same volume. Morale: HIMARS do deliver.

They shot down more than one in friendly fire. The trigger on the air defenses was set to overly twitchy.
They also claimed that the pilots bailed and survived.

I'm skeptical, but I don't know. Transponder should have made it impossible. That's 1980's technology as well. It allows you to identify an aircraft fairly easily - the way it works is that on SEVERAL frequencies, it emits RF. This made it very hard to duplicate the pattern. Today, the pattern can be arbitrarily long, as in it never repeats itself, and as long as both pieces of equipment are synchronized in time, they'd match one another.

I suppose it's possible though. The military did create the acronym - Situation Normal, All Fucked Up - SNAFU. Also Fucked Up Beyond All Repair - FUBAR. I imagine the Russian military is no different.

Remember the first gulf war - Operation Desert Storm? If you recall, it was claimed the Patriot Missiles were a GREAT success, having shot down all the SCUD missiles from Iraq. Well, 10 years later, it turns out, they didn't shoot down one, although they effected trajectories.

Who knows - everything is a lie during war, I accept that. Even if this was true, the Russians would naturally deny it.
34   Ceffer   2022 Jul 21, 3:57pm

There were vids of it on Telegram. Russians didn't deny the friendly fire event. Of course, who knows what you see in vids these days.

And forgotten was that the R-11 SCUD was 50s ballistic technology without any evasive, stealth, semi active homing, etc. ability. The performance stank.

Another thing to keep in mind is Real Life missle v. missile combat is largely untested. While Tom Clancy has SM1/SM2 shooting down 90% of "Vampires", there's never been a test of shooting down dozens on inbound Kingfish or other ASMs, much less coming from a 180 radius.

The results, like Patriot v. Scud from the Gulf War was lousy. The shitty results of the SCUD had more to do with it's inaccuracy, being designed primarily to carry WMD payloads, rather than precision hits with HE.

The same is true of Radar-Guided Missiles fired at combat aircraft expecting trouble. The USAF went into Vietnam proclaiming 75% kill rates for the Sparrow. Against Soviet Export-Grade minimal-to-no TWR MiG-19s and 21s, it was about 7%, if the Phantom had the jump on an unsuspecting MiG.

One of the great reasons to utterly "De-Generalize" and "De-Admiralize" our top-heavy military is all the papering over and bullshitting they do, esp. about fancy weapon systems they may one day get consulting jobs from the manufacturer.

There are plans for a nuclear attack by the United States, Russia, China, Indian and Europe, all against one another.

Again, provide the link. I don't have much interest at this point. The United States has made another "mistake", and all I am interested in doing, is pointing it out. We have domestic enemies, not foreign ones.
