Facemasks in the COVID-19 era: A health hypothesis
Baruch Vainshelboim⁎

Abstract
Many countries across the globe utilized medical and non-medical facemasks as non-pharmaceutical intervention for reducing the transmission and infectivity of coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19). Although, scientific evidence supporting facemasks’ efficacy is lacking, adverse physiological, psychological and health effects are established. Is has been hypothesized that facemasks have compromised safety and efficacy profile and should be avoided from use. The current article comprehensively summarizes scientific evidences with respect to wearing facemasks in the COVID-19 era, providing prosper information for public health and decisions making. ...

Conclusion
The existing scientific evidences challenge the safety and efficacy of wearing facemask as preventive intervention for COVID-19. The data suggest that both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective to block human-to-human transmission of viral and infectious disease such SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, supporting against the usage of facemasks. Wearing facemasks has been demonstrated to have substantial adverse physiological and psychological effects. These include hypoxia, hypercapnia, shortness of breath, increased acidity and toxicity, activation of fear and stress response, rise in stress hormones, immunosuppression, fatigue, headaches, decline in cognitive performance, predisposition for viral and infectious illnesses, chronic stress, anxiety and depression. Long-term consequences of wearing facemask can cause health deterioration, developing and progression of chronic diseases and premature death. Governments, policy makers and health organizations should utilize prosper and scientific evidence-based approach with respect to wearing facemasks, when the latter is considered as preventive intervention for public health.

Discussion: Masks interfered with O2-uptake and CO2-release and compromised respiratory compensation. Though evaluated wearing durations are shorter than daily/prolonged use, outcomes independently validate mask-induced exhaustion-syndrome (MIES) and down-stream physio-metabolic disfunctions. MIES can have long-term clinical consequences, especially for vulnerable groups. So far, several mask related symptoms may have been misinterpreted as long COVID-19 symptoms. In any case, the possible MIES contrasts with the WHO definition of health.

Conclusion: Face mask side-effects must be assessed (risk-benefit) against the available evidence of their effectiveness against viral transmissions. In the absence of strong empirical evidence of effectiveness, mask wearing should not be mandated let alone enforced by law.

‘Long Covid’ Is Caused by Masks, New Study Finds
Frank Bergman
April 15, 2023

A group of renowned researchers is raising the alarm after a new study determined that so-called “long Covid” is actually caused by prolonged mask-wearing.

The new study, conducted by a German research team led by surgeon Kai Kisielinski, found that mask-wearing was associated with a 62 percent increase in various illnesses.

When combined, masking induced what the authors called Mask-Induced Exhaustion Syndrome (MIES).

The German researchers published a meta-analysis of 2,168 studies on adverse medical mask effects, the largest of its kind.

The findings across a diverse array of studies and surveys reveal a statistically significant decline in oxygen intake, an increase in carbon dioxide, an increased heart rate, an increase in shortness in breadth, and an array of discomforting symptoms.

The study set out to determine the “physio-metabolic and clinical consequences of wearing face masks.”

However, the researchers discovered that not only is masking responsible for various symptoms, it is actually the cause of widely reported cases of “long Covid.”

“Lond Covid” is “returning or ongoing symptoms that people experience more than four weeks after getting COVID-19,” according to Mayo Clinic.

“In some people, post-COVID-19 syndrome lasts months or years or causes disability.

According to Kisielinski’s study, nearly 40% of main long-COVID-19 symptoms overlap with mask-related MIES complaints and symptoms such as fatigue, dyspnea, confusion, anxiety, depression, tachycardia, dizziness, and headache.

The study found that several of the symptoms attributed to long-Covid are predominantly mask-related.

Further, the study found that CDC-recommended medical-grade N-95s are even worse.

Previous studies have already shown they do not offer better protection against respiratory viruses than surgical masks.

However, they definitely cause more side effects. ...

FACE MASKS MAY RAISE RISK OF STILLBIRTHS, TESTICULAR DYSFUNCTION AND COGNITIVE DECLINE
760   Patrick   2023 Apr 23, 10:32am

https://www.cell.com/heliyon/pdf/S2405-8440(23)01324-5.pdf

Introduction: During the SARS-CoV-2-pandemic, face masks have become one of the most
important ubiquitous factors affecting human breathing. It increases the resistance and dead
space volume leading to a re-breathing of CO2. So far, this phenomenon and possible implications
on early life has not been evaluated in depth.

Method: As part of a scoping review, literature was systematically reviewed regarding CO2
exposure and facemask use.

Results: Fresh air has around 0.04% CO2, while wearing masks more than 5 min bears a possible
chronic exposure to carbon dioxide of 1.41% to 3.2% of the inhaled air. Although the buildup is
usually within the short-term exposure limits, long-term exceedances and consequences must be
considered due to experimental data. US Navy toxicity experts set the exposure limits for submarines carrying a female crew to 0.8% CO2 based on animal studies which indicated an
increased risk for stillbirths. Additionally, mammals who were chronically exposed to 0.3% CO2
the experimental data demonstrate a teratogenicity with irreversible neuron damage in the
offspring, reduced spatial learning caused by brainstem neuron apoptosis and reduced circulating
levels of the insulin-like growth factor-1. With significant impact on three readout parameters
(morphological, functional, marker) this chronic 0.3% CO2 exposure has to be defined as being
toxic. Additional data exists on the exposure of chronic 0.3% CO2 in adolescent mammals causing
neuron destruction, which includes less activity, increased anxiety and impaired learning and
memory. There is also data indicating testicular toxicity in adolescents at CO2 inhalation concentrations above 0.5%.

Discussion: There is a possible negative impact risk by imposing extended mask mandates especially for vulnerable subgroups. Circumstantial evidence exists that extended mask use may be
related to current observations of stillbirths and to reduced verbal motor and overall cognitive
performance in children born during the pandemic. A need exists to reconsider mask mandates.

It seems like the hits just won’t stop for the masks lately. The Daily Mail UK ran an explosive story Saturday headlined, “EXCLUSIVE: Face Masks May Raise Risk of Stillbirths, Testicular Dysfunction and Cognitive Decline Due to Build-Up of Carbon Dioxide, Study Warns.”

A new German study published in the Journal Heliyon concluded that, because masks create a pocket of dead space between the mouth and mask, the void traps carbon dioxide at levels that are mildly toxic when worn over long periods. According to the researchers, repeated exposure to those levels of CO₂ increase the risks of a long list of serious problems including stillbirths, low sperm production, cognitive impairment, and permanent mental declines, especially in children.

The study explained that by comparison, fresh air has around 0.04% CO₂, while wearing masks for more than 5 minutes causes chronic exposure to carbon dioxide levels between 1.41% to 3.2% in mask-filtered air.

To put it in terms leftists can understand: masks create little individual, personal climate-change spaces.

Another way to look at these results is, for men, long term masking is equivalent to punching themselves right in the family jewels, over and over and over.

The researchers identified the shocking health risks by rounding up a large number of other studies. For example, one study cited by the German researchers found that just 0.3% of prolonged CO₂ exposure in pregnant rats and young mice caused permanent brain damage, heightened anxiety levels and memory problems. Another study found male mice exposed to 2.5% of CO₂ for four hours — equal to 0.5% in humans — led to destruction of testicle cells and sperm. A third study found that 3% of CO₂ (equal to 0.8% in humans) in pregnant rats led to stillbirth and birth defects.

A fourth study found that pregnant guinea pigs’s exposure to just 0.48% of CO₂ for only 10 minutes a day for 20 consecutive days caused stillbirths and birth defects in 68% of the pups.

The academic evidence linking lower fertility to slightly elevated CO₂ rates was so strong that the German researchers opined: “Circumstantial evidence exists that popular mask use may be related to current observations of a significant rise of 28 percent to 33 percent in stillbirths worldwide.”

Think of it. What if mandatory masking policies literally decimated an entire generation?

The study didn’t mention long covid, but their results are remarkably consistent with the last mask study I reported on April 17th, which concluded that long covid symptoms might actually be “long mask” syndrome, which they dubbed MIES, or “mask-induced exhaustion syndrome.”

More and more, it’s looking like mandatory mask policies were not just harmless nuisances but may actually have been profoundly harmful.

Here’s the link to the new German study.

Here’s the link to the previous study linking masks to long covid.

Feel free to trigger hardcore mask lovers by sending both studies to them. It’s for their own good, after all, and not because you told them so.

Hahahaha! Cut-up t-shirts work, but only a little! Ten percent! Does that sound like anything they were saying before ten minutes ago? Do you think mask mandates — especially for kids — would’ve have a snowball’s chance if they’d told us there was a POSSIBLE ten-percent benefit of SLOWED SPREAD? How about when you compare that implausible benefit to the risk of Mask Induced Exhaustion Syndrome and BRAIN DAMAGE? (* See Monday’s studies.)

And does a ten-percent reduction in spread even amount to any significant benefit at all amidst a pandemic? (Assuming, of course, there was ever a pandemic.) In other words, “wear this mask, and you have a ten percent chance of catching covid a little later!”

Keep trying, New York Times. We aren’t buying this story either.

Patrick and I are in Commiefornia. You COULD try to go into a store without a mask, but it was more irritation than it was worth. We're both men, I know what I want, and where it is. I'm in and out in 5 minutes, maybe longer if I have to go through a line.

Different areas dropped the mask mandates at different times. As soon as an adjacent area dropped it, I would pretend I didn't realize I was in Sunnyvale, Campbell, Santa Clara, etc. Usually it would be tolerated, could not do it if I was a regular at a store, and if they asked me to leave I did, making it clear they lost a sale.

I was in Oakland and the place I was GOING to go into demanded my vaccine card, I began to laugh, and said there's plenty of places that don't make me show my papers, and for him to have a good night. A few businesses just ignored it, or looked the other way.

MICHELLE BUCKLEY: Hello, and thank you for allowing me to speak today. My name is Michelle Buckley. I'm the mother to a bright three and a half year-old boy named Franky. I'm a medical speech pathologist and my husband is an internal medicine physician. We live in South Tampa.

I am here today to advocate not only for my child but for all of our children. Requiring our children to wear a cloth face covering in order to participate in their publicly-funded education is not only morally and ethically wrong but it is unconstitutional.

A cloth face covering when used for source control is considered by definition to be a medical device according to the FDA.

I stand here as a medical speech pathologist, a mother, and the wife of a physician to use my voice to say that Superintendent Davis is not a medical doctor and if he was he would need to provide true informed consent before recommending the use of a medical device.

Doctors do not mandate the use of medical devices. They recommend them. And the consumer decides whether or not the recommendation is for them.

I stand here today not to try and convince the School Board that masks are neither safe nor effective in this setting with this population, but rather to stand here and speak to all of you, as citizens of the great United States, to remind you that the US and Florida Constitutions are the great law of the land.

Superintendent Davis* does not a seat a publically elected position He does not have the authority to make laws. There is no law requiring that requires a child to cover his or her face to enter the grounds of their publicly-funded school.

I am here to be a role model for the parents who know in their hearts that masking their child in order to keep them in public school is not right. I am here for you. I am here to show you that you are not alone. Peaceful noncompliance is simply the refusal to participate in that which is morally and ethically wrong and unconstitutional. Peaceful noncompliance is the personal choice to stop participating in a system that is unjust. And I'll leave it at that.

Insanity: White House Brings Back Face Masks, Social Distancing for Unvaccinated
by Kyle BeckerJune 10, 2023

Here we go again with the mask insanity. You’ve got to hand it to the White House, it is deeply committed to its mask propaganda, as well as its unscientifically founded discrimination against those who didn’t take the faulty Covid-19 vaccine.

On Monday, President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will welcome the NCAA men’s and women’s national championship teams to “College Athlete Day” at the White House. And despite the reams of research that show standard masks didn’t do diddly squat to prevent viral transmission, they are going to insist that the young athletes mask up. Unless they’ve got the faulty vax, that is.

In an email from the White House Office of Legislative Affairs sent to members of Congress, it was stated that negative Covid test results would be required for entry. Unvaccinated guests will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing.

“Masking guidance: Fully vaccinated guests are not required to wear a mask on the White House grounds. Guests who are not fully vaccinated must wear a mask at all times and maintain at least six feet distance from others while on the White House grounds,” the email states.

So, not only will they be forcing those athletes who insist on bodily autonomy, as well as the superior protection of natural immunity, to be unpersoned by wearing a useless face-cloth, they want them to be ostracized further by complying with the six-foot social distancing rule that the CDC made up out of thin air.

Furthermore, the White House is ignoring that the Covid-19 vaccines do little-to-nothing to slow the spread of viral transmission, have been linked to heart inflammation, such as myocarditis and pericarditis, in young persons, represent a higher risk to healthy young persons with natural immunity than the virus, and that big pharmaceutical companies have been given a blanket liability shield, despite having made numerous fraudulent claims about the mRNA vaccines.

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/life/2012/10/26/lifestyle/the-secret-allure-of-the-surgical-mask/

Last month in Nagano, despite sweltering temperatures, a number of high school students were spotted attending school wearing surgical masks. This wasn’t hayfever season, nor were there any colds going around, so why were these teenagers covering their mouths and noses up? They were simply following a national trend for date masuku, surgical masks that are just for show. (That’s read “dah-te,” nothing to do with dating.)

A journalist for Shinano Mainichi Shimbun asked students why they were wearing masks and got some surprising answers. One girl commented, “I’m shy about being seen without my makeup on.” Worryingly, another boy said, “I feel safe with it on.” Another 16-year-old female high school student explained that, “The mask hides the acne around my mouth.”

While this looks — on the face of it — like a problem created by low self-esteem, one that teenagers might grow out of, Japanese Wikipedia states that research done by Asahi Shimbun back in 2011 showed that adults are reaching for the date mask, too. Many began by using surgical masks for health reasons and then continued because they found that they enjoyed wearing a mask.

Mask addiction is a mental illness with a long history.

Healthcare workers refusing patient masking requests

This is a copy paste, not mine:

I’m immunocompromised and I’m working on ADA accommodation letters for all of my healthcare providers. All of them have had no issue masking when I ask, along with things like letting us check-in from the car, etc.

However, this morning I had to go for some imaging. I scheduled the first appointment of the day, went in with my N95 (with a big IMMUNOCOMPROMISED scrawled across it in red), co2 monitor, and air purifier. I only encountered the front desk employee (who of course was unmasked); I kept my distance and when another patient came in, she even took me to a private waiting room.

Of course I’m much more concerned about the small exam rooms than an almost empty giant waiting room. I always call in advance to ask about masking policies and give a heads up about my health concerns, ask if there’s any issue requesting employees who’ll be in the exam rooms to mask - so far, everyone has been accommodating.

However, this tech came in and as soon as I asked her to mask, she started to scowl. She said, “You know you’re wearing an N95, right?” I told her that I also know that two-way masking is most effective. I pointed out that I’m immunocompromised, and she shrieked, “Doesn’t it matter that I have asthma and anxiety?!?” I told her it matters to me that I’m around people who are masked. She told me she would get someone else to help me and left in a huff. I was absolutely shocked. Another tech came in masked and told me it was no problem.

It’s been a while since I’ve been out to a medical appointment (only one since the “end” of the pandemic was declared), but are people becoming more and more like this? How are you all dealing with it at visits that aren’t your normal providers? I thought calling ahead would be sufficient, but apparently not. (I’m also encountering more attitude by phone with these inquiries than previously, but it’s still the minority of these interactions.)
789   GNL   2023 Jun 28, 9:33am

From the very start of masking, everyone HAD TO KNOW that it would be a fight with the stragglers at the end. These people are mentally unfit for society. Do not give these people any peace. They will not stop. Ever.
