While I had heard about the controversy surrounding Netflix’s “docudrama” Queen Cleopatra, I hadn’t been tracking it much since it was actually released a few days ago. It’s #6 in Netflix’s Top 10 list, and I don’t think I’ve seen it go all that much higher than that.

However, the show has done something I didn’t think was even possible. It has not just the lowest audience score in Netflix history, it has essentially the lowest audience score possible on Rotten Tomatoes, a 1%. Not a 10%, a 1%. (Update: It just ticked up to 2%. Still an unprecedented low)

There aren’t many critic reviews in, but those are low as well, with the show sitting at a 13%. But those audience scores? I’ve never seen anything like this. Not with bad shows. Not with politically controversial shows prone to review bombing. Never this bad, not in Netflix history. Honesty, I think not even in TV history, at least with this many reviews in (over a thousand).

I’ve previously written about series with low Netflix review scores. The last time I broached this topic was when Netflix’s now-cancelled Resident Evil adaptation scored a 22% with fans, one of the lowest I’d ever seen on the service. That was low compared to other high profile Netflix misses, Jupiter’s Legacy with 73%, Space Force with 77%, Haters Back Off with 76%, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness with 39%. Fans usually rate things higher than critics, even bad shows, and the point being, a 1% audience score seems borderline mathematically impossible, even with the controversy the film has attracted.

Until conservatives stop reacting and acting like pussies, this will continue.

There isn't a single movie or television show that made my life better by watching. It's all discardable garbage.

If I want to know what the plot of anything is, I just read the synopsis. I'm telling you it's just a waste of time.

I used to archive this stuff, now I may just throw it away.

It's been so long that I've watched fiction that I can't experience suspension of disbelief anymore. I'm aware of musical cues for example. I dunno, whatever. I've grown to hate how fiction just presents a totally false reality.

You know why people are upset with Cleopatra? Because people will mistake it as history. Fiction never comes close to an accurate representation, ever. And it's not like they can't, they are only interested in presenting propaganda entirely, of some sort.

Ever see a film depict your profession before? Notice how wrong it is? That's everything.

The libs will use this fact as "proof of racism."

And it will still win an award of some type

I recently met a girl from Albania and boy was she not black, but still hot.
I once met a blond girl from Croatia who was a doll.
Cleopatra was from that neck of the woods.

Based on what I have read, Cleopatra, according to Egyptologists, was Eastern Mediterranean -- a mix of Macedonian and Phoenician (Lebanese). In any case, definitely not nubian (black african). I remember being called racist for pointing this out in high school when the Michael Jackson video for "Remember the Time" showed up on MTV.

I'm pretty sure she was mostly Greek/Macedonian. They ruled Egypt from the time that Alexander conquered it and would not even learn Egyptian. They spoke Greek.

I suppose some Phoenician could have gotten in there via someone's choice of wife.

You don't watch comedy? You wouldn't watch a Dave Chapelle special? Or a cheesy comedy movie like Tropic Thunder that has Robert Downey in blackface and going full retard? If you don't want to laugh that's a rough place to be. There's plenty of good, old stuff on Netflix.

I don't have enough time to sit down for an entire movie generally. Just watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Sunday again. Is the plot predictable, yes. Is it funny and have good music, yes. If you're looking for compelling movies that moves you that ship sailed when film started.

The reason I'm saying this is a company like Netflix has the data. The problem with shit content is they know. But if you watch the non-woke shit they'll see that data as well. If you want shit content, movies and shows to go away, boycotting could shut the service down which I don't particularly care about, but I now have to chase down/buy the content I actually like.

It's made up. Everything filmed is made up. Even documentaries. The truth doesn't sell. It's made to compel emotionally or entertain and make you laugh.

I'm not saying watch this Cleopatra bull shit. Don't acknowledge it exists and it goes away. The fact is these are actors. They're not and haven't been a real estate broker, programmer, engineer, stock trader, etc. Even if you have someone consult on set, the director is going to be the ultimate decider of what gets on screen. That will never change.

Put a webcam and mic everyone up in Apple and watch that for 2 hours. Let us know if you're entertained. Movies and shows are the definition of embellishment. That's why comedy is the best if done right.

This "Cleopatra bullshit" is an attempt to LIE, and fits a long-running pattern of propaganda to seed the minds of the masses with a distorted version of black history.

It is not simply "a show", or even an isolated mistake. It is deliberate, it is strategic and it is corrosive. Merely ignoring it will not make it go away -- every single time they peddle the lie, there has to be a backlash that is severe and vocal enough to counter the propaganda, and to cement the truth in the public consciousness.

The bullshit is blowing back in their faces - so we must make sure this is not forgotten and swept under the rug, because if we ignore it, they have more bullshit they will try to push.

I'm not watching it, never will. I don't care. It's already under my rug. You give it attention they keep making more shit like it. That's reality. Sweeping it under the rug and ignoring it is literally the best approach. Bad publicity is better than no publicity or however the saying goes. Bad publicity literally got Trump elected because it was FREE.

Bitching about it will just have them make more shit like it. Like I said I'm not gonna hate watch it or even care. That's the best approach.

And since the recs are based on one's previous watching patterns, if you are recommended Cuties or Bleopatra it's you, not them. They don't exactly recommend these to someone who watches mostly Westerns, for example. ;)

No, not at this point. Bill Burr burned out the region of my brain that could appreciate stand up comedy he was so damned funny to me at one point.

When I last saw a sitcom, I'm acutely aware it's a laugh track, and if anybody acted like that in real life, you'd want to kill them, not be friends with them. It's always snide remarks aimed at a person. Even Archie Bunker and MASH are like this, and they're 50 years old. Go watch an episode of cheers, would you really like any of these people if you were in their group?

Television distorts your perception of what people are actually like, and people ape what they see.

The truth DOES sell, but you can't get funding for it. Oliver Stone's JFK was highly fictionalized, but it didn't have to be, but if it wasn't fictionalized, he would have been savaged in the press, because the CIA killed Kennedy, our government killed him. It would have been trashed by the critics.

I've seen people walk up the ranks in news media for telling the truth, they only get so far before they are attacked. Ben Swann did this. He's still around, but he's independent. You won't easily come across him, because he's marginalized.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceobsac7LE8

That's the only real interview I've seen of Obama. He ripped Obama 3 more assholes in that interview. You think there's no market desire for that? The problem with this, is that it's anti-government to point out that our government leaders are liars are sociopaths. They are a powerful group supported by an even more powerful group.

The truth WOULD sell, if there was separation between business and state. The state purposely kills independent corporations.

I am not watching it either, but I will exploit their fuck-up to expose their lying, so their credibility is torn apart.

I am perplexed as to why you advocate so strongly for letting them slink off quietly to regroup for their next attempt.
17   Ceffer   2023 May 16, 11:29am

I'm less concerned about their transparent, superficial woke bullshit history of convenience for propped up, sacred cow minorities than I am about the fake history they have written for the rest of the world that is traditionally accepted as rote truth.

Somebody needs to send a military force to release the Vatican archives that hold the real history, that they assiduously hide.

Because I don't care and watch little to no video/TV/Movie content. My kids don't either. We have lives. Shit content and shit consumers will always exist. So as not to be hypocritical I used to smoke cigs. You'd agree that is stupid as shit, right? (I'm no smokes for 6 years now)

Just stop watching all of it. Complaining about it does nothing. People bitch about smokers and I was one, but still did it. Indoor smoking and 15' from the door didn't fucking matter to me. I didn't care what others thought, it was my vice. Until you realize that consumption of media is a vice, you're not going to understand reality. Cleopatra is a vice for some freaks. It's not going away. Keep your kids away from the shit and don't acknowledge it yourself. It will go away if it doesn't sell.

As a parent, at the end of day if you want to make change lead them, your kids. Screaming boycott does nothing long term. The show crashes and they'll make the next one. Or keep it going because you just gave it publicity. Just don't watch anything really. You don't need to. You're not going to stop morons from watching bad shows/movies. Never.

It's not going away. The propaganda tool will be kept alive even when nobody pays attention to it.

Nobody actually reads the NY Times, but it continues to exist. Who actually listens to the radio still? That still exists.

I was pretty disappointed to find out that lemmings do not jump off cliffs, but rather Disney drove them off a cliff just to make a movie that they could sell.

https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=wildlifenews.view_article&articles_id=56

According to a 1983 investigation by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation producer Brian Vallee, the lemming scenes were faked. The lemmings supposedly committing mass suicide by leaping into the ocean were actually thrown off a cliff by the Disney filmmakers.

Radio is still active in cars, jobs, and on back patios. Radio would not have so many local advertisers if no one was listening.

I'd have to actually listen to a radio to find out what they are pushing. Commercial advertising is linked directly to social propaganda as well. You can see that with Budweiser. Remember, conglomerates own companies. Fox news and Dominion are both controlled by Blackrock - the suit wouldn't have gone forward if Blackrock didn't see it would be somehow advantageous to do it.

When I last watched television "news", I could see it was constant advertisements for drugs that they never explained were for "ask your doctor about Drug X", and also advertisements for companies the were involved with the MIC - GE, Boeing, etc. These are real advertisements, they are bribes.

News media won't go away, I agree. Entertainment will though if it doesn't make a profit. Even the lowest budget movie or show is minimum $50k/day during filming even with cheap actors.

The problem I have is by bitching about it publicly, all people do is draw attention to it. Maybe 1 in 10 people bite, like what is all this outrage about. Guess what, they're the freak and watch it habitually now because they heard people bitching about it. This is my opinion, but I personally think it's best to ignore this shit.

A vocal majority bitching about something a minority, loser, gay, outcast, etc. motivates them to keep watching shit. So they keep making shit. If the Bud Light thing bothers you don't drink it. Soooo many people are bitching about it publicly that don't even drink it. You're giving them free publicity. It's the same with Cleopatra.

I think there is more at work.

This shit is being sponsored by billionaires, it's not just woke twats doing it. When shows don't do this, they find ANY reason to cancel them, and they do. Tim Allen and Rosanne Bar are two examples.

Remember 40 years ago, and if there was nothing on television, people would just sit in front of the TV channel surfing until they got their fill of the swill? There are plenty of people who will still watch television even if "there's nothing good on".

We listen to radio all the time, home, work, and especially while we drive. We even listen to sports. Radio rules!

There will be radio as long as there is human beings. When the internet crashes, radio will still work. Most stations run on computers but many could be run manually in a pinch.
