You know the rich are getting richer when the walk in CLOSET in the master bedroom of their mansion is BIGGER than your entire kitchen:

Isn't it nice to be rich?

That carpet looks like it's from home depot.

Which picture has carpet?

He's referring to the rug in the very last picture.

We know rich is getting richer and poor is getting poorer, when the average income pretty much stays the same, but the number of people earning less than the poverty line increases. Is that simple enough for you?

Speaking about "Competing with the Chinese", somebody at the NYT Opinion Page makes a very good living advocating more Free Trade and glorifying Third World Oligarch-Industrialists:

I never knew the NY Times paid that well.

It's no Hearst Castle, but it's not bad.

A movie star could buy this with one film, eg. DeCaprio's take from Inception. . .

I don't know what Hollywood so-called star and all other entertainment types, clowns, sports figures etc. aren't corporations and IMHO they do not own or get all the so-called big deal property or money tossed around in their name in the press to make average simple-minded people gloat over them. I worked in the business at one point. I did not ever see one that wasn't a "Mr or Mrs. so and so Corporation" there were always pages upon pages in corporate docs of lawyers, agents, PR firms etc. that got their cut out of each overblown deal.

It probably is! Personally, I would have loved to have been the trim carpenter on that library! Or even to install the floors! Doing work like that for the "rich" is often more lucrative and less hassle than the typical, pice conscious, over-your-shoulder homeowner, often in part because the "rich" also hires a designer to work out the design and plan. A lot of people were hired to do that job. If we could get the "rich" to do a lot more upgrades like that now, then we might not even need the latest "Jobs Act"

Kind of looks like a pile of mismatched things - then they painted. Like a pile of everything they could think of. The furniture put together looks homley. Seriously. I would not want furniture to be that uncomfortable. Marble on the floors. A tennis court right next to the circus entrance. Then there is the crappie pond right in front of Alexander the Greats war pavillion. I thought the victoria mixed with the colonial and english townhome on the left side of the house was snappy. Then they might have changed there minds and went Andrew Jackson on the front of the house sided by townhome. Then to the right of the house the went Italian El Duce. Where of course Alberto can come out and make his speech before they hang him because he can't make his house payment.

I was thinking it was built in the late 19th or early 20th century until I saw the "new construction" in the ad you linked to. I guess extreme wealth means that you must have a GARISH home reminiscent of old monarchy which, truth be told, is what our modern the plutocracy actually is.

If I had that kind of money, I'd have a TASTEFUL home built in a Frank Lloyd Wright style, replicating his various modernistic styles in different wings.

Yeah, she inherited the General Properties fortune from her father. I like to keep it in mind when the Mustache begins pontificating about consumption, usually just after he returns from yet another flight to India to collect bromides from Oligarch-Industrialists ("Entrepreneurs") in the third world.

Bet that house would burn down in under an hour once a good blaze took hold!

Kitchen? Damn, that walk-in closet is bigger than half of the apartments I used to rent.

Now compare that mansion to the apartment where we commoners are now expected to live as I posted in this old thread with the video of a lego-style apartment.

That explains everything about his opinions.

Are you referring to the Mittster's comments? Isn't it ironic that he owns a company that uses other people's money to bankrupt companies, put people out of work and force them into becoming the 47%?

I know of many people who are still unemployed after 3 years. it's horrible that our economy is doing so poorly - even though things are coming around, it's not fast enough.

I'd like to have health insurance equal to the plan Mitt's wife's horse has.
