They are one of my least favorite features that I see in renovated houses. The other thing I hate is scenic landscaping that renders the yard completely useless.

You prefer a big under-sink cabinet that will get filled with bugs & 57 half-used bottles of conditioner?

When Mrs. Vicente puts any haircare products on my shopping list I ignore it and direct her to the orphan bottles hiding in cabinets.

I bought a house with a 10,000 sqft lot, there wasn't a plant in the whole yard taller than a blade of grass. So I'm not feeling you on this one.

It's not a pedestal sink I have problems with, it's the cheap sourcing from Home Despot for all things that are crap in modern "updated" renovated homes. That goes for counters, cabinets, tile, and roman style pillars on the 4' by 4' not so grand entry way.

I wouldn't mind something like this...

it would take some tlc, but would be stunning.

Over this...

is pure shit.

It's even worse when you have the child locks on it. I have to run to the kitchen and get the magnetic key to open our vanity.

I hate pedastol sinks, but I also hate the particleboard cabinets under sinks. After all, nothing goes together better than particleboard and water!!! If I could go back in time and choke the first person to this I would.

That's my kind of yard. It's a clean slate to me, but I like, no I love to garden so I can see how most people prefer some kind of landscaping. I have seen some that don't leave much space for people though.

Big fan of these floating vanities.

I'm not, if anything drops on the floor, that's where it goes.
I'm getting at the age, where a round trip to floor, where I have to stretch my arm under a tight crawl space, makes me see stars.

What gets me is is not why particleboard is used but why the FUCK particleboard without waterproof glue is used. Seriously how many pennies are saved there? Would it kill cabinetmakers to use marine grade particleboard?

who cares, keep it painted and don't let it stand in a flood... If it does, replace it.

In 10 years, I'll probably want to remodel anyways, or the new owner will!

Particleboard, especially the cheap crap used in most bathroom cabinets tends to be pretty hygroscopic. Paint helps but inevitably moisture will make it swell.

Of course you are in Arizona so airborne moisture isn' t really a problem for you.

You would think there would be molded Corian bath vanities by now.
It's not so great for a Kitchen counter in my opinion. Because they are prone to heat discoloration, a hot pot or plate placed on the counter. But they hold up moisture and resist organic material staining pretty well.

well, my house has the original 1968 solid wood cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms. I repainted them, and put on new hardware...

yeah i know its dates, and doesn't look like the junk in ick-e-yea, but who freaking cares? its a bathroom, I go there to meditate...

Are they so hippiesque that a set of new doors along with the paint and hardware won't bring them into the 21st century?

I'm probably more than twice your age, Captain; the trick is this: 40 squat thrusts everyday, morning or lunchtime and 40 before you go to bed. Touch your toes for a count of 25 afterward.

Some of the more basic yoga moves also help.

As for bathrooms -- nothing beats the 30's. We got it right and kept fucking it up from there:

Unwise: a woman needs her lotions and potions.
