For most of two decades, real estate transfer taxes on the sale or transfer of houses, land and other properties have been banned by state law in Oregon, except in Washington County, where a small transfer tax was grandfathered in.

Most people just can't read and don't understand that the 'tax' only applied to estates of over $2M or farms over $7M. But supporters of the ban marketed it (successfully) as a tax on ANY real estate transfer. I voted against the ban even though in all likelihood I will be over the $2M threshold in a few years. (Hurray for me)

Wonder what the voters will do next year when they get informed that the $70M in revenue this collected from those rich land barons will now be paid out of their pockets.

Gotta hate an uninformed electorate...

Dude before you go off claiming everyone is uninformed check yourself. The article was about measure 79 and you appear to be commenting on measure 84.

79 is a piece of crap pushed by the NAR and 84 was another shit show brought to Oregon by Kevin Mannix.
