Announcing the second Patrick.net coffee hour, Sat Dec 8th at 10am

By Patrick   2012 Dec 1, 11:02am   5,106 views   25 comments   watch (0)   quote

Since the first coffee hour was such a success that it lasted many hours, and it's been a month, let's do it again!

But on the suggestion of a reader, this time let's meet at John's Cafe at 401 Lytton:

http://www.johnscafepaloalto.com/

The advantage is that we can walk over to Johnson Park if it's a nice day. John's Cafe is where it says Bangkok Cuisine, marked with the big "A":

I will be there.

Man, you are totally out of sync with my schedule every freakin time!

On Saturday I'm going to be on a Virgin Atlantic flight to London. =(

So far it's been the second saturday of the month in Nov and Dec. Let's assume it will be the same in January, so the second saturday of each month.

OK, now you can plan ahead for it!

I'll be getting ready for my trip to Paris, um, later on.

If I can get the notebook to work over there, I'll post. :)

Gee, thanks for discriminating against us guys on the east coast.... what are we suppose to do??? Web Cam???

That could be interesting. A mass video conference for the people who can't be there. Can Skype handle that?

Last time they took a group photo - of their feet. Either to preserve anonymity, or because they have freakin' awesome feet.

Gotcha. Hopefully this time that will be avoided, lol.

Are you one of those people that saves his/her feet for "private parties" only?

I live in Southern Utah and believe that I'm the only Patneter here. So I have a party of one everyday.

if there were to be ane east coast meet up (I'm not saying that there will be... I'm just thinking outloud) where would it be held? Tampa? DC? Philly? NYC? Boston? Somewhere else?

Here are counts of users with zip codes starting with 1, which I think would be closest to you:

mysql> select city, zips.zip, count(zips.zip) as c from users, zips where users.zip like '1%' and zips.zip=users.zip group by users.zip order by c desc limit 20;

presuming of course that I am (or can make my way to) the NYC / Long Island area, which is where most of these places are.

For that matter if your looking at NY metro area, also look at 07### (Northern NJ) and 06### (Connecticut)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ZIP_code_prefixes

Have you ever mapped your users by their zip code to get a feel or what area(s) they tend to be concentrated in? - Or are they spread out all over the place?

Anyhow I don’t want to get too far off topic. Obviously, I can’t make the meet and greet on the 10th – but I hope it goes well.

I'm going to try and make it (10 AM?) but I'm usually over at the Palo Alto VAMC on the weekend, helping out with our wounded warriors as a VA Volunteer.

Yup, 10am. Thanks for pointing out that the title did not have the "am" on it.

I promise I'll be there (in the coffee shop or the park) until at least 11:30am. I'll wear my blue ND baseball hat.

Maybe next month.

The crowd was smaller (me, Francophile, New Renter, and jvolstad) and entirely new except for me, but similarly fun.

Sorry, no picture of our feet.

Maybe we can have a prize drawing for people who attend the weekend gathering. I wonder if a local Realtor would be willing to kick in $50 for a Starbucks gift card......well, maybe not. LOL.
