Is Detroit the best place to start a cult?

For 79k you get all the trappings of legitimacy and are surrounded by a desperate uneducated population. Sounds like a recipe for a successful cult to me.

It's a church I bet it ran to hard times when the locals started steeling more than they got in passing the basket around.
Cult leaders have to be able to have followers willing to devote their life, money and property to the leader. There isn't any thing to gain by leading a bunch poor uneducated people that are only there for the food. It's always educated people that follow people like Jones, Karesh and those types. They need educated liberals, that are also social, civil and structural engineers so they can be self contained. California is where you should go. They just love that crap, anything to piss off Jesus.
