I was recently down in the Bay Area, and was struck by how weed has become essentially legal and accepted in allot of communities. I was enjoying a sunny day in Dolores Park and was offered multiple forms of cannabis by roving entrepreneurs followed by girls scouts selling cookies/munchies, synergy indeed. I live in portland where it is much the same but much more furtive.

Then it came to me "prohibition" my poison of choice is rye whisky, and would certainly pay a premium in rent and or purchase price over a place in a wet county vs. a dry county. I'm finding it fun to think about what the price premium is to live in a "green" area of a city.

I'm curious what other people think. Are people paying a premium to smoke marijuana openly in peace?

I don't think there is a price premium for living where people can openly smoke canabis. I travel all over the state checking on my properties, making offers or just vacationing and it's open just about everywhere in CA I have traveled. It's legal (as far as the state is concerned) all over CA if you get your recommendation and even if you don't it's only a $100 citation (no criminal record), but why risk a hundred dollar ticket when you can get a recommendation for $40 and renewal for $30 and have no hassles? You can smoke it in front of any police station with a recommendation and legally grow 12 immature and 6 mature plants on your patio or your living room. You can possess more than 12 plants or 8oz. if you have a note from the doctor saying that you need more. The CA Supreme Court ruled unanimously in January 2010 which affirmed an appellate decision, which means people who have a doctor's recommendation to use marijuana can possess and cultivate as much as is "reasonably necessary", so you can have more if your doctor deems it necessary. There is no hiding in the shadows anymore, and that's a good thing in my opinion. This plant possession number in the law is a minimum amout in all counties/cities, but the law allows for a county to allow more, BUT NOT LESS, eg; Sonoma County and Mendo, and many others allow more. There are doctors for recommendations within a short drive of every Californian whether you are in rural CA or metro CA. Any ailment will do....very easy to get. If you want one of the lowest cost recommendations, I would recommend Dr. Patel who is very good, although there are many others on the West Side or in the Bay Area and even in far rural Northern CA www.doc420.com

So that means Realtors (R) should be leading the charge to legalize marijuana?

Damn, how do you make that cute little "(R)" symbol? Is there some special syntax code voodoo for that?

And all this time I thought "green" meant "environmentally friendly."

So I guess the following would be considered a "green vehicle"?

I think you might find a distinct correlation between communities that value environmental stewardship and incidents of labrador smoking.
