This is why I can't get enthused over sports.

I've never been a sports fan, but from early on. I was always fascinated by the sports politics, and the double standards.
And for the most part, realized that sports champions are just big phonies. For every sports champion, there's probably 20 that could out do them in every way, BUT the Moral police would have none of it.

Pete Rose - a man that was so good at his game they called him "Charlie Hustle". Played the game until the ripe old age of 45.
Retired from the game, but then fell from grace because he bet on Baseball games. The guys record belongs in the front row of the Baseball hall of fame, but because of his transgressions he was never considered.

Mike Tyson - The only boxer in the 20th century who could end a fight with in the first 2 seconds of the opening bell. Was done in by floozies looking to cash in on his dim wits and wealth.
Later tried to comeback, but out of frustration bit Holyfield's ear off.

Now this Hernandez character, sure he's a son of bitch and a no good murderer(allegedly at this point). So now they are removing a brick from the walk of fame at UF.

These guys were all great athletes, and if you're going to be a sports fan, then damn it be a sports fan first. Be the judge and jury second. What's wrong with leaving memorials of great sports legends, even after they fell from grace? They should serve as reminders, that nobody is above the law, while celebrating mans abilities in Sports.

It's just all so dishonest and phony. You can be the best in a sport the world has ever seen, but if you screw up like some demented pharaoh, your successors will expunge your legacy from history. It just makes no damn sense.

Lance Armstrong, if it was easy to just take some drugs and accomplish what he did. Then he would have been as common as dirt.

Micheal Phelps, I mean the Olympics should have fashioned him a special metal for winning gold metals stoned.

Let history judge these characters, while marveling at their achievements. There just might be a great message or lessen there to be learned by future generations.

Darryl Strawberry is another name you can't mention in a sports conversation, with out the moral police chiming in about his off field life. The guy has been in more World Series games than anyone alive today.

You could recycle any given year or season of sports events with a light extrasensory amnesia, and the fans would never know the difference.
