Again- where in that statement, or anywhere in that study does it mention anything about being gay? The above clipping doesn't allude to or suggest anything of that nature.

Most people who have lost a argument tend to quietly just let it go.

Typical Obama voter. Can't comprehend and read between the lines even if it's in clear English.

What does "these chemicals reduces testosterone levels, eliciting femininity in males" mean to you in your planet Ed?

Since Assless Chaps deleted my comment to this point -- I stated a) that there is no evidence that gays have more or less testosterone than heteros (scientific evidence for this), b) that old men lose testosterone as they get older and don't start lubing their anal cavities for Brokeback-style hotgaysex (and similarly old ladies don't move to the Island of Lesbos), and c) that testosterone levels have been dropping in the last few decades due to environmental factors, and there's no evidence that the proportion of actual gay people (as opposed to out vs. closeted) has increased over time.

This is why rome burned, and why US is burning now.

Our wide stanced friend can't handle the truth and so he overcompensates.

Here is my other comment within the thread in case he gets delete-happy:

At first it appeared as an honest concern over pesticides and the people who live near those spray areas. But no- you just HAD to mention something about "gays".

I suspect Assless Chaps lives near a lot of Monsanto spray areas, if his BS theory has any truth to it. After all, why else would he spend so much time passive aggressively posting on SFGate.com about gays?

Of course, Assless Chaps didn't actually read the rest of the blog post:

About 1.7 million pounds of the pesticides were applied in Fresno, Madera, Kings, Tulare and Merced counties in 2012, the latest data available, said Charlotte Fadipe, a spokeswoman at the California Department of Pesticide Regulation.

That means those Central Valley counties should be hotbeds of gay sex, right? Be careful walking around crops -- there might be lots of gays cornholing among the artichokes.

Note that the actual UC Davis study says nothing about the gays.

The gay thing really tweaks FW. He can't think straight (ha!) when the idea is forced upon him. Some people just can't handle cilantro....makes them insane.

I hate cilantro

The guy spent YEARS trolling the SFGate boards about homosexuality, despite not being a local area person. It's really an obsession.

He also makes a lot of shit up, e.g. that he's been to Compton and faced "racist looks" from black people there and claims that there are no Latinos there, when in reality he knows nothing about Compton:

I agree racism is everywhere, but can you imagine a guy like Assless Chaps stepping into Compton ever? He probably thinks it's like black ghettos you see in movies.

I've been there. There are parts of it that look like many other working class and middle class neighborhoods in the LA area. It's more than a quarter white, although most of those white people are Latino. Seeing a white face there ain't no thing. I didn't hear any gunshots, but I do hear them sometimes in even the "nice parts" of Oakland and Berkeley.

Reason I deleted your comment, you went overboard with personal insults.

That's always been his style. The fascinating question is, does that mean that his beliefs are all based on fantasy make believe in his mind ?

He probably has sneaked too many peeks in the locker room, and is jealous of what he's seen.

But he's sure fun to make fun of, FartWhine is

My real problem with threads like that is they way society in general seems to think of everything as being cryptonite. The Chinese drywall is easily 100 times worse than pesticides, lead paint, asbestos, and most mold situations. These things mostly require common sense. Like dressing appropriately, or just showering and changing clothes after handling. I have a friend who said that they wanted to hire someone to remove what they thought was poison ivy because they thought it was too dangerous to touch. I told them to just wear gloves and wash the gloves right after. I still don't think it was poison ivy, and I picked up a weed whacker and went right through it and haven't had any issues because if it. Lead paint is another example of where proper clean up and wearing a breather is all you need to do. It's not like you are going to eat the paint flakes like some stupid kid. Oil based paint VOC's are another example of something demonized but really is no big deal.

People need to stop being such big pussies!

I was just thinking about how the "Senator Kelly" crowd is so funny about sexuality. Even the ones who try to be "kinder" (love the sinner, hate the sin!!) or who believe that although it may be genetic, that homosexuals need to be forced into the closet or into hetero relationships, etc.

If they think it's a genetic abnormality or whatever, then why be so mean---so restrictive? Do they shout at people with Down Syndrome? Do they picket people born with other "abnormalities"? I knew a lady with an extra thumb--following their logic, I don't blame her for having the extra thumb, I just don't want her to use it as she sees fit! Liberty!!

Or is it their own sexuality they are fighting? Or is it just because our puritanical heritage still lingers, and that "peepees" and "hoohas" are dirty, dirty, dirty?

Nothing more than I said in this thread. I summarized my original response quite well.

Some of it definitely requires common sense. For others, it makes sense to be cautious because of the existing evidence. It's really context-dependent, so hard to say. I agree with your poison ivy example, because that's pretty damn low risk anyway. If you fuck up, you'll get a tiny rash.

If it WAS poison ivy, and you aerosolized the leaves with your weed whacker and breathed the results as you worked, imagine your bronchi the next day. I've heard of misadventures in campfire kindling selection lead to hospitalization.

As for lead paint, what doth it profit a man to wear a breather but turn a stable leaded paint film to easily-passively-ingested dust infused throughout the living space, by following "common sense" procedures to deal with an invisible, delayed danger?

I'm no nanny-stater, but jeez, some people are SO ideologically paranoid that they'll throw out the safety baby BEFORE the bathwater.
