The job market may be cooling off, but the pace of hiring is still strong in some parts of the country.

High taxes. Unaffordable homes. High gas prices. Bureaucracy. No water. Businesses running away.
Lots of jobs. :)
Everyone loves California. Please visit and bring lots of money.

Well, that certainly makes me want to pack my bags and head West..... NOT...

We have jobs, sunshine and homes that pay for all your cruises when you retire. What more can anyone want?

What I save by NOT paying for an overpriced house in CA pays for my cruises.

I have always said...If California home prices increase by 7% annual historical. And interest rates are 4%. Californians get paid 3% just to own a home.
Now what better way is there to get rich? :)

I can cruise 4 times a year for what I would spend on mortgage payments on an over-inflated pile of 2x4's, sheetrock, cabinets, etc. in your area.

It's a lot more then 4X per year.

Edit: I just ran the numbers, I can cruise almost once a month with the savings... Hmmm..., Overpay for a depreciating pile of building materials or go on a Caribbean cruise almost every month? Tough question..

I love my pile of depreciating building materials. There's gold underneath that pile of rubble. :)

As Krugman noted, $1T of stimulus in a $16-17T economy ain't much. It's like giving somebody who makes $16,000 a year and extra thousand. Helpful, but really just helping them get caught up from some of their losses/debts - it's not life changing by any means.

We have gone over this a million times and you are wrong.

Starting with: the worst depression in American history has to have a good reason for taking 10 years to recover from. Why is this, why, why? I don't have the time or interest to disprove all of your graphs again and again.

8   indigenous   2015 Apr 10, 9:01am

Another graph showing the FDR had to start a war to jump start the economy, what a surprise. IOW the broken window meme. The increase before the war was caused by the US building war goods for other countries, this inspite of FDR...

9   indigenous   2015 Apr 10, 9:56am

Just like now, do you believe the propaganda that we are recovering?

He made some good investments in housing and in gold a while back. And the attention got to his head. In all fairness this happens to the best of us. And he is smart but just drank waaay too much Kool Aid.

Look at how it has affected Obama, we all know what a worthless fuck he is.

But where are you going to live for the other 11 months of the year?

Are you really that dense? Or do you just play an idiot in real life?

lol--do you ever answer a question, or just hurl insults when you are shown to be an idiot?

Then there is that other loser

One alt account for work.

If knowing how stupid you are makes a person a loser, then just about everyone on this forum is a loser.

Why do you need one account for work and one for home?

This is not a situation you have encountered - leave it be.

He's right in the sense that without any government, people either work, or starve to death, or receive charity. So when you remove government a lot of the least able people are going to die, or become slaves of some kind. The idea that the average standard of living would be higher without government, or especially the idea that those in the lowest quartile could have a higher standard of living (let alone not suffer way more) without government, is absurd.

No they don't starve or become slaves, since there is no minimum wage they simply work for less but have a job. Conservatives are infinitely more generous to charities than LIbbys.

The standard of living would be higher, because most everybody pays at least 50% of their income in taxes. Think about this, how things have changed in the last 20 years. Communications, land lines with long distance charges to cell phones with unlimited time and no long distance charges and internet access for about the same price. Cars , last easily twice as long with less maintenance better gas mileage less pollution more features like blue tooth, anti brake locking, backup cameras, etc etc etc, at a price increase less than inflation. Grocery store, fruits and produce that is available year round, at least a hundred times the variety, Electronics, Moores law and all that, my smart phone has more power than my first computer that cost $4k, the internet (yes, thank you Al Gore), a million channels on TV available whenever I please, including live streaming of sports. lap tops, Kindles I can buy a book with no shipping and no sales tax and I can have in seconds, computers powerful enough to easily accommodate video and audio, podcasts, flash drives, email, free education by ridiculously good teachers (it has made me a lot smarter, almost as smart as the Wogster), computerized equipment like 3d printers and lasers, etc etc.

OTOH lets look at government services. I have not needed police services once in my life, and after viewing the recent shooting I'm very happy about that. Have their services improved like technology has improved say on par with Amazon? How about public education I believe Calif teachers are compensated better than almost any other state yet their test scores are 3rd from the last. So is education on par with the Khan institute? How about the public utilities, technology has improved so much that they charge more all the time, and just down the road shut down a billions of dollars nuclear power plant because it was leaking. Need I even mention the havoc created by our fine central bank? Or maybe Calif's fine water utility department?

In conclusion how the fuck could the standard of living not go up if the whole fucking schbang was privatized?

Regarding the lowest quintile, the first thing to know is that no public transfers get counted as income, that mean no food stamps, WIC, section 8 housing, no permanent disability. As Strategist pointed out 50% of a persons income goes to the domicile, yet that is not even counted as income. None of the cash they make under the table is counted. Even at that do they have a better life, being subordinated to the nanny state? With a mentality that will never break free of the nanny state. Me thinks that the state is not doing them any favors.

Haiti is anything but, it get more subsidies than anyone.

Haiti doesn't get subsidies. Wealthy agri corporations in the US get subsidies. Haiti gets food at below market prices destroying local agriculture.

Somali on the other hand steadily improves with their Xeer Law.

Xeer law has been the law in samolia since the 7th century. Are you saying it's just starting to work now?

Don't know about that but it works very well in Somalia, I read that it is very old.
