Witnesses describe chaotic Louisiana theater shooting. Mann's daughter heard the first pops about 20 minutes in, thinking they could have been firecrackers or part of the movie. But she "knew something was happening" when she saw muzzle flashes, Mann said. She hit the floor and then ran for her life, joining a panicked but controlled, helpful crowd."

Oh wait, there was one:

"Louisiana State Police Col. Michael Edmonson recounted reports of the 2008 restraining order and of Houser's activity online, including posts by a man from Phenix City with a matching age who had a profile on the website Tea Party Nation and hundreds of posts on PoliticalForum.com."

It's time for something to be done.

What we need is to require liability insurance for gun ownership, with subsidies for those who can't afford it.

We could set up insurance exchanges in each state so people could bargain-hunt for the best insurance deal, too.

Offer 3 insurance levels -- "Bronze" for the accidental shooting at home, "Silver" for self-defense incidents, and "Gold" for when you really want to exercise your 2nd Amendment rights at schools, theaters, government offices, airports, etc.

Perhaps this subsidy could be a flat monthly check for Militia Security? You could offer camps where they do some yearly woodcraft, orienteering, marching drill, maybe even training straight out of the Anarchist Cookbook and whatnot so they know how to overthrow a fascist Libtatorship. Of course, you wouldn't be permitted to REQUIRE any of this if they were too busy or something they could just spend one day at the machine gun range and call it good.

Just like Social Security, I'm sure Teabaggers would cash it.

You realize that in instances where people successfully use guns to defend themselves, the media almost never runs those stories.

And most certainly in the few instances where those stories have run in the media, no one brings them up here.

No one is stopping you from documenting all the times it's happened.

Well considering that most of the time I'm posting on pat.net from my phone while dropping a deuce, or waiting for an appointment somewhere, that's a pretty big impediment to posting random news stories. I'm not on disability retirement like a TON of the posters here.

Besides the context of my statement was that the anti gun media are disingenuous in that they typically only run stories where some sicko gunned down a bunch of people and rarely report still sensationalized stories where people say thwart a home invasion robbery by shooting a couple black guys with a .12 gauge.

If only these idiots would wisen up, and vote all dem all the time, we could reLize their utopia. Millions of unionized public employees armed to the max, with free reign to brutally murder any mentally impaired folk they come in contact with. Out of fear for their safety. Then theyd have the resources to gun down all the blacks in their backs, and any asshole that dare threaten their safety by getting pulled over for driving on our roads.

Ahhh freedom. And safety! If cops cant be the only gangs carrying guns, unaccountable for any action, then freedom has no meaning, and all hope is lost

Yes because being gunned down in one of numerous public massacres can be totally cancelled out by a handful of home invasion cases.

Solution: The "anti gun media" runs home invasion rebuffed stories, for 10 days minimum. Because it might not be TOTALLY clear what happened and they'd need to get their best investigative journalists on that full time. Salacious details about how the robber gasped for breath or called for help add sauce.

If a massacre of innocents occur, run that for 30 seconds. Because nobody is interested why a 59-year old white man silently stands up and starts shooting randomly, or even why a 20-year old might murder kindergartners. Nobody should get upset about that, or be at all curious because it's just in bad taste to discuss such matters. We should spend much more time savoring stories of people who "deserved to die."

Americans clearly don't spend enough time already fantasizing about how good guys always win, and bad guys are really BAD and end up deservedly with bullets in heart and brain so they die without too much fuss. Our movies, books, etc. don't dwell enough on how guns can solve our problems.
