"The survey found that 75 percent of respondents would like to drive a vehicle not powered by gasoline, and 64 percent said they would prefer that car to be powered by hydrogen."

In other news, 94% of Americans would prefer to visit the moon next Monday instead of going to work.

Desire is not demand.

John, the only place you find hydrogen that doesn't require as much energy to split as would be created is on Gas Giants and the Sun.

And I just thought of another reason why even THAT won't work: The atmospheric drag and gravity pull would negate the benefits of the hydrogen scoop.

Bbbbut... The hydro car burns water! It's amazing!

In other news, 75% of Canadians (and 85% of Americans) don't understand basic scientific concepts.

Back when I was in 5th grade I had the bright idea to power a generator with its own electricity. My science teacher said it wouldn't work but couldn't explain why. I guess hydrogen nuts like Bailo are about as scientifically knowledgable as my 10 year old self.

Hydrogen is an energy carrier not an energy source. It's not found in free form on earth (not in very large amounts anyway) extracting it from water has a net negative energy gain. Currently we get most of what we used by separating it from natural gas with super heated steam.

Hydrotreating vegetable oils and animals fats will yield a second gen. renewable diesel. Steam reformation of methane can be used as the source of hydrogen for this process. Natural gas powered car? Hydrogen powered vehicle? Solar powered auto? It's all theree, and it's a diesel.

Wow, 100% of responders at patrick.net so far are on the side of science. But how do we teach the 85% of Americans that still believe in the hydrogen fairy?

HydroCabron says

In still other news, 94% of Americans think it would be swell and also energy efficient to start a colony on Mars. What's not to like? Think about all the frequent flyer miles you can rack up.

Apparently, some have never heard of the Hindenburg disaster. Instead of "17 Car Pile Up", you'll hear about "17 New Low Earth Orbit objects".

Send out CIC to teach them.

If they want to know how to fuck cows, Bob's your expert!!

Never happened, I respect another man's partners in sexual relations. Since you have the cow and sheep all locked in your personal harem I'm forced to just sleep with women.
