I feel really bad for the married couple only making 650k, their kids must be starving and you know how much child care is.

If the move the decimal over one spot, they might have something that represents a typical American cog.

Where in the hell are people making that kind of money?

Its easy to make that kind of money. Just get a job as a Austrian/trickle down economist on Faux news and scare all of the minimum wage viewers that the gay muslim in the WH is coming to take all of their money away after they were sent to FEMA camps.

One gets the impression that WSJ Editors really believe that the US Middle Class makes multiple 6 figures.

How does that single lady survive on $180,000 a year? Oh, she must have to eat Ramen noodles to get through the end of the month.

Thats the retired couple that is forced to eat premium cat food. The poor rice eating single is at 230k.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that the point is to say that the average person makes six figures. How I read this is they are trying to normalize the income figure so you are comparing apples to apples. So, a single person making "this" is close to the same as a family of four making "that." Then show the disparate tax treatment for what is arguably a similar effective income. The conclusion being that people are penalized for having families. In order to show that, however, you have to look to higher incomes. Three scenarios of people making less than $100,000 would just show how everyone, regardless of scenario, is completely fucked.

That bit under $300/month tax bump had to really sting, when she was only making a little over 20,000 plus per month.

Ouch !!

This is an example of the way that the Fucking liberals are trying to make everyone have the same income.

I don't think so, Turtle. A single parent with 2 kids making $260,000, and a married couple making $650,000 won't equalize their incomes. I think the idea of this article is to sprinkle sarcasm on high wage earners who complain about taxes, as can be seen from their sad faces.
Sadly, the article cherry picks a very small minority to make a socialist point.

The following would be a good come back for a biased article:

GREAT TRUTHS

1. In my many years I have come to a conclusion that one useless man is a shame, two is a law firm,
and three or more is a congress.
-- John Adams

2. If you don't read the newspaper
you are uninformed, if you do
read the newspaper you are
misinformed. -- Mark Twain

3. Suppose you were an idiot. And
suppose you were a member of
Congress. But then I repeat
myself. -- Mark Twain

4. I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and
trying to lift himself up by the
handle. --Winston Churchill

5. A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul. -- George
Bernard Shaw

6. A liberal is someone who feels a
great debt to his fellow man, which debt he proposes to pay off with your money. -- G. Gordon
Liddy

7. Giving money and power to
government is like giving whiskey
and car keys to teenage boys.
-- P.J. O'Rourke

8. Government's view of the
economy could be summed up
in a few short phrases: If it
moves, tax it. If it keeps
moving, regulate it. And if it
stops moving, subsidize it.
--Ronald Reagan (1986)

9. I don't make jokes. I just watch
the government and report the
facts. -- Will Rogers

10. If you think health care is
expensive now, wait until you
see what it costs when it's free!
-- P. J. O'Rourke

11. No man's life, liberty, or
property is safe while the
legislature is in session.
-- Mark Twain (1866)

12. Talk is cheap, except when
Congress does it. -- Anonymous

13. The inherent vice of capitalism is
the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery. -- Winston Churchill

14. The only difference between a
tax man and a taxidermist is that
the taxidermist leaves the skin.
-- Mark Twain

15. There is no distinctly Native
American criminal class, save
Congress. -- Mark Twain

16. What this country needs are
more unemployed politicians
--Edward Langley,
Artist (1928-1995)

17. A government big enough to give you everything you want, is
strong enough to take everything
you have. -- Thomas Jefferson

FIVE BEST SENTENCES

1. You cannot legislate the poor into
prosperity, by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

2. What one person receives without
working for, another person must
work for without receiving.

3. The government cannot give to
anybody anything that the
government does not first take
from somebody else.

4. You cannot multiply wealth by
dividing it.

5. When half of the people get the
idea that they do not have to work, because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the
beginning of the end of any nation!

Can you think of a reason for not sharing this?
Neither could I.

I don't know. It's a single parent with two kids compared to a two-parent home with four kids. So, it's six people being supported by the $650 income vs. $280 for 3 people. I'd agree with you on the parody thing if it weren't coming from the source it comes from. WSJ isn't known for poking fun at high income earners.

13   FNWGMOBDVZXDNW   2016 Feb 24, 8:58pm

The WSJ is just catering to the interests of their readers who are much wealthier than the average American.
The problem is that the relative tax increases for single people and families don't scale linearly with income. So even if families are punished more in the high income brackets, the opposite might happen for the bottom 90%. At the bottom, tax credits play a much bigger role.
