“When people come back from war and combat and they see maybe what the people in this room have seen many times over, and you’re strong and you can handle it, but a lot of people can’t handle it," quoth Crass Orange Dickwhistle Dumbshit.

Donald Trump on Monday suggested to a room full of veterans that soldiers who return from war suffering from PTSD are not “strong” and “can’t handle it.”

The GOP presidential candidate’s statement came during a Q&A at the Retired American Warriors Pac. Some of the questions were about the suicide epidemic in the military and criticism of the Veterans Administration (VA) for falling short on providing veterans with the mental health treatment they need.

After saying there are around 22 veteran suicides a day, Trump explained to the room of veterans what PTSD was.

“When people come back from war and combat and they see maybe what the people in this room have seen many times over, and you’re strong and you can handle it, but a lot of people can’t handle it,” Trump said.

There was a silence in the room after his statement, and people on social media were quick to express anger toward his comments.

In response to an earlier question about the VA, Trump said that he was thinking up policies that would help fill in the gaps that the VA was leaving in terms of mental health coverage. He said his plan is to enable the government to pay for the health care of veterans, not just at VA clinics, but at any public or private hospital.

Tell that to Audie Murphy, all the WWII and Korean War vets who still have nightmares, and other people who have actually served, tool.

Come on guys. Trump is clearly trolling the vets. Even a frog would know these are real injuries.

Why? Because alcohol, sedatives, painkillers/opioids, and benzodiazepines aren't enough variety in the rainbow of substance abuse choices for our vets?
You sound like a pusher. I'm glad my grandfather didn't run into someone like you during his addiction struggles post WWII.

Trump, why not just call 'em sissy losers? He thinks because we didn't name it, or understand PTSD back in WWI/WWII/Korea/Vietnam that somehow the previous generations of warriors were tougher. Not the case at all. That finally does start to look a bit sociopathic to me.

That's right. He wants to see the gross over-reaction and dislike votes online. Hahaha.

(I seriously wonder, for those following Southpark, if they aren't going to link Trump/Garrison to the troll/Kyle's dad. I feel like the forces will join and intermingle in a funny way there.)

Ironwhatever,
Read the title unless you like being an asshole.
" Mental health care" might help you.

"Draft-Dodging"
Googleize it! Probably find the word "COWARD"!

Please try to improve your trolling!

Never seen such blatant disinformation and lies by the mainstream media and moreover bloggers, some bordering at slander. Of course you get PTSD when you cannot handle the stress from the war (or some other traumatic experience), that's its very definition. It's a shame that just because the Donald doesn't speak off a teleprompter but talks off the cuff, everything he says is now twisted ad absurdum into a bold-faced lie.

Yep.

It's just a prank, bro! Everybody calm the fuck down.

It's not like he called white supremacists "deplorable" or anything, or noted that some Bernie supporters enjoy ground-floor accommodations.

Chill out.

Because it works.

Very telling that a Statist would confuse a benign, non-toxic, utilitarian plant like cannabis, with harmful toxins, but I digress. I'm not a "pusher", rather, a problem solver.

If your grandfather was anything like yourself, probably best he didn't run into someone like me. I may have #triggered him to death with facts and solutions.

After WWII our vets came home and built the greatest nation the world had ever seen.

Obama sent them off to war then handicapped them upon returning. They saw a mere fraction of what the vets saw in WWII.

Obama is the biggest pill pusher the world has ever known. He built a whole healthcare system that was nothing but a Glorified pill mill. Bush made sure we have a well stocked supply of Opiates to push onto everyone for anything that ails you.

These vets needed a job when they returned home and a functioning society and greeted by better people than petty Liberals with their homoerotic existential crises.
Perhaps there would have been no PSD pandemic.

This is your finest post here.

Congratulations on a job well done!

The whole "do onto others" ethic is kind of lost when it comes to our perception of people with mental health problems, becasue we can't empathize. I think it's human nature to feel "why can't you just snap out of it ?" That is, based on our own experiences of being tough in difficult situations.

The thing is, when it comes to mental illness, most of us override those natural kind of thoughts such as "toughen up" or "snap out of it" with an intellectual understanding that mental illness is not something we can empathize with or understand and therefore those thoughts and feelings about people with such problems are simply wrong.

But not Trump. Not TPB.

On the other hand, sure, lack of jobs or otherwise staying productively engaged probably does sometimes lead to feeling sorry for oneself and drug addiction and then a PTSD diagnosis that isn't totally legit. But then I don't know whether the VA provides proper drug addiction treatment without such diagnoses.

I do know that the VA provides a lot of awesome college programs that even include housing allowances for those with a little motivation and self discipline. So the following is utter hogwash:

Pretty good deal, and probably the reason a lot of people volunteer:
