Guys, and Gal, (SQT)

This one is such a lay up. We can have the party at SpendingUrRent's house! Perhaps at one of his many "cash flow positive" rental units. I've never trashed a rental and in fact take better care than many "owners" but in his case I'm willing to make an exception. I'll take out the jockey, then park in the front lawn. Bring Your Own Favorite Real Estate Bull, (BYOFREB). I'm feeling the Holiday Spirit with childlike anticipation! Get a clue Spaulding (I mean "Spending") this is the last Christmas your going to be able to live it up on equity "extraction". Provided you did your cash out before Labor Day and didn't have to feed your alligators (rentals) with it! Then again, maybe my place because we all know it's just a proven fact that Californians are soley responsible for the disconnect between Oregon home prices and our 38th in the Nation wages and 1st or 2nd spot in unemployment during the entire recession!

Will have a party when the houses exchange hands. ;)

3   Allah   2005 Dec 9, 1:16am

Check out this senior mortgage broker who is stepping on other mortgage brokers. He tries to make you believe he is the one to trust because of his experience, however, anyone who would even advertise 106% financing is definetly not someone trustworthy!

Where do the majority of people who’d want to attend a BA party live? East Bay, North Bay, South Bay, peninsula?

I'm here in the N. Bay, as well as a few others I think.
SF could be an easy meeting spot for me.

5   HARM   2005 Dec 9, 3:00am

We should also have a party down here for us "Southerners" :D . Anywhere in OC or LA County is quite doable for me.

6   Peter P   2005 Dec 9, 3:16am

I am in San Jose but I can go to San Francisco easily. I think SF is one of the logical meeting places in NoCal.

Need a location though... don't want to wander around near Marina.

7   Allah   2005 Dec 9, 3:39am

We should have several blog parties in different areas.....we can find an open house and all go there. The realtors will be happy and we will get free coffee and donuts served to us. We can go "open house crashing", eating all the stuff they have and when it runs out, we leave and go to another.

We can go “open house crashing”, eating all the stuff they have and when it runs out, we leave and go to another.

We are not going to lowball them before we leave?

9   Peter P   2005 Dec 9, 3:48am

The locale will have to be somewhat recognizable to those of us who are not local to SF. Or at least easy to find.

How about the Palace of Fine Arts?

It is near the GG bridge by the Marina. :)

10   Peter P   2005 Dec 9, 3:49am

I don’t know people. If the locale is a public place, what if all those rich homeowners catch wind of our conversations and call us a bunch of jealous, bitter renters?

Then we call them scared, desperate homedebtors.

11   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:24am

Are we thinking a restaurant meet-up, or something else?

What about sushi? For Peter P's sake, of course. Any good sushi suggestions?

Well, we might want to get a head count of who will possibly attend and then pick a place based on their ability to accomodate that size party.

12   KurtS   2005 Dec 9, 5:27am

Need a location though… don’t want to wander around near Marina.

Nope, not there--we don't want to run into ___________! LOL

In terms of SF locations, I could propose a few restaurants near the Ferry Bldg/Embarcadero ctr.
There's ample parking around there on weekends, and easy commute from those up north.

13   KurtS   2005 Dec 9, 8:26am

Let us all reward him with fresh baked pies

I'll bring him a crow, wrapped in some suitable RE news articles.

14   Peter P   2005 Dec 9, 9:47am

I was thinking if the Berkeley area would be more suitable. It is able the same distance for Jack and Kurt but it is a bit closer for SQT and folks in the East Bay.

15   KurtS   2005 Dec 9, 10:20am

I was thinking if the Berkeley area would be more suitable.
Yeah, Berk's not too bad, but SF waterfront is a short boat trip for me.

16   Peter P   2005 Dec 9, 2:49pm

Dec 17 is good for me.

Either SF or Berkeley is fine.

What kind of locations are we considering?

17   Peter P   2005 Dec 9, 2:51pm

Should we advertise on Ben's blog about this party? It would be great to meet people like sfjack and lunarpark.

18   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:07pm

"Maybe I should change my name to “Marin Jack” or “Fairfax Jack” or “The ORIGINAL Jack”??? Or maybe the simple but elegant: “Jack of Marin” LOL "

I think you should be Jack, or mabye OJ, as in Original Jack, and definitely not Jack of Marin, which makes you sound like you should be frolicking in a field of poppies.

19   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:10pm

If we do the 17th, would an afternoon or evening meeting be better for most people?

20   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:13pm

Oh wait, isn't the 17th SQT's son's birthday? SQT, what days would work for you since you have to drive the furthest?

21   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:16pm

Gack! SQT! How can we have a blog party without you?

22   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:18pm

And also, I cannot be the only female at the party. That would be too weird for me.

Moonvalley, you said you're showing! I'm holding you to that...

23   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:19pm

Are there any week nights that would work for you SQT?

24   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:21pm

I hate to break it to you SQT, but Peter P and Jack are actually male, from all indicators. LOL.

25   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:27pm

So she says NOW...

26   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:31pm

I am sure they'll be forgiving. Well, Peter will be, but Jack...we know what a sensitive artiste he can be.

27   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:33pm

So would the 17th be nearly impossible for you, SQT? Would making it day or evening help one way or the other?

28   Jamie   2005 Dec 9, 5:36pm

Oh cool. I hope that day will work. 'Night SQT!

29   Allah   2005 Dec 10, 12:00am

30   Jamie   2005 Dec 10, 1:05am

Afternoon/lunch on the 17th would work for me, I think, or evening, too.

And Jack of Marin, I'm sooooo sorry to misinterpret your wallowing as frolicking. My mistake! And of course it would be a forest of evergreens, not a field of poppies. What was I thinking?!

Huh team rules.

31   Jamie   2005 Dec 10, 2:13am

The only thing bigger than that post is the head of the average Texan when they talking about how great Texas is.

Please, don't do us any favors. Keep the secret all to yourselves.

32   Jamie   2005 Dec 10, 2:16am

Okay, afternoon on the 17th? Noonish? One-o-clock-ish? Does that work for most of us?

Anyone want to chime in with suggestions? Specific places to meet? Do you want to do that Embarcadero area KurtS mentioned, or someplace in Berkeley? Or???

33   Briana   2005 Dec 10, 2:16am

geez scotty,

why are you so hung up on selling rio grande to us, is it because you know all the bears on this blog are holding on to some hard earned MONEY.....
sounds like you're looking for clients before the big CRASH in spring.....:):):):)

34   Jamie   2005 Dec 10, 2:21am

Hey, it IS where all the leather is produced for gay bikers the world over. Maybe we should all rush there and buy land RIGHT NOW! And we'd all ruin the Texas ambiance with our ignorance of shredded meat products and our ungodly tolerance of stuff.

35   KurtS   2005 Dec 10, 4:20am

And if I have to go as a woman just to make Jamie or SQT feel more comfortable (heh), so be it.

Jack--LOL. Dont.

36   Peter P   2005 Dec 10, 5:47am

And if I have to go as a woman just to make Jamie or SQT feel more comfortable (heh), so be it.

My wife will probably be there.

37   Peter P   2005 Dec 10, 5:50am

Not that I would expect anyone in California to know anything about barbeque.

I do like Mediterrainean-style BBQ though. Whole fish and scampi on open fire... with olive oil, lime juice, and... mayo!

38   Peter P   2005 Dec 10, 5:53am

The last thing I have time to waste on is going to a party where a bunch of bubble-heads, whose understanding of real estate doesn’t extend beyond Monolopy, bitch and moan about the price of homes in their over-inflated market and whine and complain about realtors.

Huh?

39   Peter P   2005 Dec 10, 5:55am

I remember someone posting a website that had that info for SAC but I don’t remember what it is. Can someone help remind me? Also, any advice as to where a good place (house) to rent re schools, community, etc would be and what the average rental price is?

I think SQT can help.

40   Peter P   2005 Dec 10, 6:03am

MarketMaker
I don’t think any of us have anything against a reasonable bull. Jack has always been more bullish on RE, and we still like him.

I also like and respect Zephyr, Face Reality, and Mr. ___. I am even willing to have sushi with MarinaPrime. :)
