In most places, the Chavez family would be an exception but in the school district that includes East Palo Alto, their plight is not uncommon.

Why do you keep posting sob stories? At $11.00 per hour, i doubt they can afford to live anywhere in California, least of all in a rich man's area.

...so, they should move to another place where they make less, and still can't afford to live? If this offends you, why don't you simply ignore it?

Lol...I guess there is no place in Nevada, Arizona or Utah to live with such a wage adjusted for cost of living

Tovbot always spews the viewpoints of NIMBYs and is most likely one of them himself.

If he cares so much, he would vote for people who don't support nimbyism, for starters

How can you make less than $11.00 in California?
What would you do if you were in their place?

I'm not sure what I would do - I'm not them. People become institutionalized to their situation and the thought of moving is often overwhelming. .

I don't have answers, but I do have a bunch of questions. What would you do? What if you lived in an RV, couldn't afford the gas to leave town nor did you have a place/job to go to?

I do know that Denny's servers make $2.13 per hour in Utah. https://www.dol.gov/whd/state/tipped.htm

$2.13/hr seems a bit low for handling toxic waste.
