I'm sure that's true. All those "award" ceremonies are just advertising for the actors anyway.

Criticizing Trump in public and getting written about was fantastic publicity for whats-her-name.

She will certainly see her ability to get a movie deal improved. Quite a trick for an aging actress.

With face recognition software as advanced as it is today, televisions should be equipped with 'facial filters' to shade actors to the end user's desired skin color.
A premium would then be placed on albino actors, as, when coloring, it's always desirable to start with a neutral shade.
The key to this would be the availability of space on your remote to accommodate the extra button...

Yeah right.

Is it that they are going to be giving roles that call for a 40 year old actress to Streep becasue the money people and the director like her politics ? Or it it that they think more movie goers will now want to see her portray a 40 year old becasue of her politics ?

Or is it that you think she wasn't already the biggest contender for the best roles playing an older woman ?

Oh, I know. You think that screen writers are going to write more good roles for 60 year old women because of her politics.

More and more I think it's true that liking Trump actually makes a person stupid. Then again I'm sure a chicken versus the egg question applies.

Probably all the hysteria on social media about TRump is also just people trying to impress their friends or express other alterior motives by pretending to be freaked out about who our next president is.

Irrelevant. Her criticism was valid regardless of whether or not she gets paid as a result. Do we discard all news simply because reporters get paid to report news?

Be less concerned about whether or not some person or agency scores popularity points and more concerned with whether or not they are telling the truth. You'll notice that no one has made a case that anything Streep said was incorrect or dishonest. And that's what really crawls up people's butts. She said something about their mascot that they cannot refute. Sometimes the truth just makes certain people look bad.

Can you really defend Trump for that stupid, unnecessary, and counter-productive ad hominem attack regarding a person's physical disability? That attack and tasteless imitation of a disability demonstrates several things about Trump.
1. He's an asshole. He simply is not a compassionate or caring person.
2. He's an idiot. No one with a brain would do that on camera, especially when running for public office. It makes you look really bad, really immature, and really unpresidential.
3. He's a terrible public speaker. You know his handlers were shitting their pants while he did his little dance.
4. He's a terrible diplomat. Any decent politician knows how to at least maintain some semblance of niceness.
5. He's trying to appeal to low-life, low-educated, jealous, and bitter idiots as those are the only ones who would have cheered for that. And they did cheer.

There's no way to spin Trump's behavior to look good or even neutral. And that is why people are so upset about Streep's speech. It's not that she attacked the president elect's character. It's that she did it in an irrefutable manner. And making a solid case that your opposition's team is bad, is the greatest way to piss them off.

P.S. Character limit still stupid. It accomplishes nothing but inconvenience.

Actually, hollywood would probably be well served to write more roles for 60 year old women, given that movie theaters are getting killed in marketplace and very few movies are marketed to older demographics;

her politics, in this case, would be icing on cake.

They are going all away even the ones that don't know it yet.
You will be seeing Meryl Streep in community theater.

My problem with Streep's diatribe was that it introduced absolutely no new information or thought to the discussion, merely grabbing onto the most well-trodden path of attack on one of Trump's most indefensible fuck ups.
This was discussed and ranted about ad nauseum six months ago, and refreshed in the public imagination at regular intervals. Trump still won the election.
So all in all it feels like nagging, and nagging at anyone who voted for Trump. Nobody likes to be nagged, and old Jewish ladies don't need to reinforce their already solid reputation as horrid old nags.
She did nobody any favors with that speech.
