You could only view him as a hero if you were an anarchist. I would call the people who vetted and hired him idiots for employing another idiot who couldn't be trusted.

The information he revealed? The end justifies the means? What about the larger issues of whether we have government levels that can be trusted to be secure, without renegade officers deciding what should and shouldn't be told, potentially to the harm of the larger picture and endangerment to lives.

Secrecy is a necessary evil. The fact that it is a necessary evil exploited by government agencies to violate the Constitution is not a happy place to go, but it still does not obviate the necessity of the necessary evil.

For exposing that the NSA was lying it's ass off not just to the public, but to Congress - even Congressmen on their oversight committees?

Flagrantly wiping out the 4th Amendment?

What the Manning fellow did was wrong and possibly resulted in deaths. But to me that every call I make and email is being monitored is just a bit too much. I understand security, but NSA started sharing info to the regular police-that si just wrong. Isn't that how Elliott Spitzer got caught hiring hookers-by the provisions of the Patriot act?? That brings us into dangerous territory. How many other people were caught and because of the nature of the crime-paid off the gubmnt in exorbitant fines??

Yep. Did you know that less than 1% of Section 213/215 warrantless wiretaps are for terror or terrorism related?

Guess what the #1 use of warrantless wiretaps under the Patriot is?

13   lostand confused   2017 Jan 28, 10:38pm

That is one of the main reasons I supported Obama and he was a huge disappointment. if a Sanders like candidate who has been consistent on NSA limits came along on the dem side-I will vote for them.
However the dems-as evidenced on thsi forum, revelk on calling us folks idiots and nazis-nice way to convince someone to vote for your side.
