I've noticed this mass hysteria only afflicted certain areas. Where I live, it hit for a few months for most, and only lingered with a few silly ladies. The female sex is most vulnerable to this insanity (speaking as a member) because--overall--we are more squeamish than men. A lot of intact families (run by men) and active churches (run by men) out here along with the predominately male industries of farming and trucking.

Thanks! I am still worried about saying such things myself, even though I think you're absolutely correct.
Men and women think differently, and that's due to biology, not culture. Evolution selected for bigger, more analytical males who can defend territory and build things. On the other hand, women were selected to be more nurturing and to make sure all the children got fed and treated equally. Without both sides, we die out.
Currently, the government in both the US and Canada is essentially female, resulting in lots of problems, such as an overly hysterical reaction to a relatively weak virus, and support for open borders.
Call me sexist, but biology is reality.

The problem is:
1. Women are no longer socially and primarily judged by their household performance (Cleanliness, Meal Quality, Child Rearing).
2. Women are no longer regulated by their parents at all prior to marriage: No males are vetted to the parents before permission is given to go on a date.
3. Women are no longer subject to "Slut Shaming". As an example, I clearly remember the 80s and 90s where sexual intercourse HAD to be at least with a steady boyfriend (not that it happened besides that, but it was a "Walk of Shame" and kept concealed ESPECIALLY from other peer women). Nowadays women are actively encouraged by other women and social media to have a decade+ "Ho Phase" (aka "Finding myself" or "Living my best life" or "Exploring")
5. Women are still held on a pedestal of feminine imperative, despite their open rejection and hatred of being considered demure, submissive, household maintainers, etc. It's an INSULT to the vast majority of women to be asked to make a sandwich.
Yet:
1. Men are held to all traditional standards of being the main provider, regardless of a female's earnings. This is why you see epiphany/wall phase women whinging that they have master's degrees or whatever, as if men are remotely interested in that.
2. Men are held to standards of household care they were not expected to perform before ("Half of all housework" / But ALL of the yardwork)
3. Men's income is expected NOT to be under their control (the "Your money is Our Money, but my money is (mostly) my money")
4. Men's blue collar work, despite income levels, are held in lower esteem. There was a survey of women under 40 and they preferred a $100k lawyer over a $250k plumber. So women overvalue edumacation over being a "Dusty" man, even though most men, including the educated ones, would identify a plumber/pressure washer/etc. with his own business at $250k as being the "Better Catch".
So Very Non-Traditional Women want Very Traditional Men.

Anyway, the old birds in Santa Cruz, if they can manage to honey trap or get labor from the geezer men, always do so. If the men ask them out, but they don't meet standards of money etc., the men are just snobbed away. I have heard my wife and some of the old birds 'evaluating' the hood men, and if they think they are too blue collar or don't have money, they are merciless. The internal bitch woman is still there intact, even if the assets are a distant memory.
