nbsp;I soon realized why. There was a homeless guy with his pants pulled down to his knees stretched across three seats and blocking the fourth seat. His butt was facing into the aisle. The smell of him took your breath away.Donna HurleyRelated

Been like that ever since I was in San Francisco many years ago.

The human poop logs on the escalator out of Civic Center Station are still "fresh" in my memory.

BART is a third world public service union graft bonanza machine for third world employees who think that third world filth and half assed work ethic are just fine.

You see the immaculate public service transit in other developed countries at reasonable costs and you just slap your head and go "WTF?".

Yes, very true.

When riding the Shinkansen, you appreciate how insulated everything feels, literally no wind noise while you're travelling 170mph towards your destination. Immaculately clean, the bathroom has a slightly potpourri smell, then you go back to your seat to enjoy one of the best Bento box meals you've ever been served anywhere, including a train.

Then you compare it to BART; where every 2-3 seconds you get a whiff of someone's body odor, bum feet smell, or just straight up feces someone left in the back corner seat. You cringe anytime you get near the MacArthur or West Oakland stop because you're not sure if 30 gang bangers are going to jump onto the train, rob everyone, then run off with your $1500 laptop. Not to mention the ear damaging noise you experience as you go under the Bay Tunnel to get into or out of San Francisco with the metal-on-metal screeching hitting up to 170 decibels, causing permanent ear damage if you don't have head phones on.

Man BART really fucking sucks compared to mass transit systems around the world.

When riding the Shinkansen

I'll bet if someone tries to enter it without paying he'll be fucking shot in the fucking face.

I wear noise cancelling headphones with cotton in my ears on BART. Last time I was on the train, I was accosted by a drunk, staggering black youth who was begging for money. It was sardine crowded, no way to escape. As polite as you can be to a drunk, I said I wasn't interested, and the black people in the seats glared at me like I was the one doing something wrong, like they wanted to tear me apart in a pack if they had a chance.

Really, it's OK to be reeling drunk and obnoxiously soliciting for money, but it is the mugging victim minding their own business who is doing something wrong?

During my time in Japan, I rarely saw fare evasion, and usually when it happened, it was foreigners. If you're caught, you'll get fined, or you can pay the ticket price right there and be let go without any paperwork having to be done.

We are turning into a third world nation because first worlders are on the decline in the US.

San Francisco sets the standard for Leftist government in the USA. That's why it sucks.

9   BayArea   2017 Jun 28, 3:43pm

It's heavily influenced by leftist government.

Thus it's guaranteed to suck.

The few times that I have taken the Bart, it smells bad plus I have people coming up to me wanting money.

Last time I was on the Bart it was the early 90s didn't seem to bad then but things have gotten much worse since then.

If BART made an effort to actually collect the fares there won't be need for countless bond propositions every election cycle and there won't be smelly bums greeting morning commuters from the urine-soaked benches.
