"PRESIDENT TRUMP": You've written a lot about the wealth gap in this country, during the election Hillary was considered the candidate of Wall Street, but now my whole cabinet is made up of Goldman Sachs types.

MATT TAIBBI: How did that happen?

"TRUMP": I don't know, you tell me! I don't pay attention to what's going on.

TAIBBI: I remember you, on the stump, on the campaign trail saying that you were not going to be in the pocket of Goldman Sachs, Ted Cruz was totally controlled by Goldman Sachs, lying Ted, yanno and Hillary Clinton she was totally in the... and then like two minutes after you got inaugurated you're surrounded by Goldman Sachs people, what happened?

"TRUMP": Goldman Sachs Trump.

TAIBBI: Yep.

"TRUMP": Is it even possible to drain the swamp, or are these big bank billionaires just part of the process now?

TAIBBI: I think the ironic thing now is the only way to get the big bank billionaires and Goldman Sachs' out of government is to have someone be elected who comes completely outside of the system, who isn't part of the two major parties. So, someone just like you -- except the irony is you got elected and you brought exactly those same people into government.

"TRUMP": So that theory doesn't work.

TAIBBI: It doesn't work.

"TRUMP": So, what a dummy, huh? Is it that we've entered into a period of corporate feudalism, where governments are actually like the dukes and duchesses who report to the king, which is the corporation. And therefore our Democratic system has actually been usurped multi-nationals, so there's no possible way to actually govern because everything is controlled by private interests?

TAIBBI: I'm just so stunned by you using the term 'corporate feudalism,' that you just lost me completely in the middle of that question.

"TRUMP": Okay... But what do you think, though?

TAIBBI: Yes.

"TRUMP": Really? I got one right. I am winning right now. Why is my base not more upset about this? I keep trying to piss them off, and everything I do they're like, "we love you, we love you." It's like a baby that you punch in the crib.

TAIBBI: You yourself said it during the campaign, that you could go out and shoot somebody in the middle of New York City and they'd forget about it two minutes later, but you haven't gotten around to that yet.

"TRUMP": I gotta do that. Next time I'm up in New York.

You are missing the bigger picture. It's not goldman sachs/wall street. It's a cabinet of almost all people (except a couple generals and sessions) who are part of the Koch brothers libertarian organization. Example number 1 being de Voss. Who as we speak are dismantling regulations as fast as they can. But only regulations where the removal will directly benefit the libertarian ultra wealthy. Regulations that hinder competition or will otherwise be a benefit will stay.

I'm not defending the proliferation of regulations. Congress should do it's job and make sure the laws are implemented as they wanted instead of turning the government over to the regulators without exercising oversight like congress is supposed to do. Just pointing out that under trump there will be very selective pruning of regulations that will almost always benefit the ultra wealthy at the expense of everyone else.

Nobody committed any financial crimes

Wouldn’t that be something for a jury to decide? If anyone had bothered to look. How do you come to have this amazing bit of information?

Obviously I was sarcastic. The whole point it never went to the jury.
