I still support Trump. Why? Because as an independent I only go by the issues. The positives that Trump has brought to us, far outweighs the negatives.

guys, i have been such a good supporter. can i get a pat on the back please!!!

Liberals told everyone to stop eating at chikafil because their ceo doesn’t like faggots.

I’m sure they’ll understand this too, after all communists hate faggots too, and we shouldn’t be buying their solar panels.

Fucking GREAT news!! As an American working in renewables
5   zzyzzx   2018 Jan 23, 7:15am

We can (and should be) making our own solar panels, and cars, appliances, etc. I want to see stiff import duties on fully assembled vehicles.
6   FNWGMOBDVZXDNW   2018 Jan 23, 7:41am

Where's the tariff on oil? Funding oil rich areas (by buying their product) cost us all sorts of money and lives in wars, terrorism, and homeland security. Why are we taxing solar panels and not oil? Is it because this is just an extra finger in the eye of environmentalists and Democrats?
7   anonymous   2018 Jan 23, 7:43am

I wouldn’t call helping his friends and himself make money “stupid.” What is the intention of this tariff?

A) bring back manufacturing jobs?
B) create new jobs?
C) impair renewable energy growth so his friends and Tilersons friends make more money?

Not a trick question.

Sheep will be sheep.

I am part libertarian.

What if we took 3% of the GDP and used in for R&D in the national interest? China does.

Pay Lawyers like Engineers, and Engineers like Lawyers. Increase the # of Physicists, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to 1% of workforce.

"Liberals told everyone to stop eating at chikafil"

Anyone ever eaten at "Chikafil" ? Is this something like Hooters or more akin to the Cadillac Ranch ?

When are the tariffs going on all the Chinese made shit the Trump family produces and imports ?
10   Goran_K   2018 Jan 23, 8:34am

You would think OBummer's fans would love this. Domestic production of green energy protected from cheap foreign alternatives? Win-win for the hippy brigade.

Guys......Free fuel, free delivery, unlimited supply. No trade deficits, no payments to terrorists, more money for us, no pollution, no environmental damage, no health costs due to pollution.
Yet, we tax solar panels, while subsidizing fossil fuels. Are we out of our minds?
12   MisdemeanorRebel   2018 Jan 23, 8:51am

Strategist, do you think the USA should subsidize the export of US Solar Panels? That's what many nations are doing - selling at or even below cost to drive out US businesses from abroad.

That's Economic War. Do you think attempts to dominate the US Economically with Foreign Government Money shouldn't be sabotaged?

That's the classic definition of "dumping" No, it's not good for us or any nation that is the target of dumping. I do not support dumping. However, because renewable energy is so beneficial to us, we should counter "dumping" not with tariffs, but subsidies of our own.

Cheaper for us to impose a tariff, which I prefer. But not totally opposed to your alternative.

How many people get their "energy needs" from solar versus fossil fuels?

There's your answer.
16   FNWGMOBDVZXDNW   2018 Jan 23, 12:01pm

Solar is funny. If China wants to subsidize the manufacturing process of something in order to dominate the market, think about what the product is. It's something that used to be expensive and high tech, and is getting cheaper at a fast clip. I think we should be fine with their historic subsidy (it gave us cheaper panels when they were expensive). If they were trying to gain market share on something that was getting more expensive, that would be another story. We are subsidizing implementation (purchase), which think is dubious for the same reason (prices are falling). But, at least we have panels that pay a dividend sitting on our roofs.
What they have gained more than anything (IMO) is the knowledge on how to make them cheaper. That's worth something.

Very few for now. Every technology starts with a trickle and ends in a gusher.
My question is......If it's a good thing, why not promote it?
18   Y   2018 Jan 23, 5:53pm

Well I'm certainly not opposed to cheaper prison windows if it promotes a higher non-incarceration rate...

@Patrick, why was this comment deleted? There’s no personal attack, I’m curious as to why this isn’t allowed on the site?

They are doing pretty well even without being open Sundays and their stuff is pretty good, hard to resist. In Germany businesses still can't be open on Sundays unless they are gas stations, restaurants, etc., or have a special one-time or permanent permit. You'd think though that a fast-food chain would benefit quite a bit from being open Sundays, but that's their choice, private investors are happy and there are not public stock holders since they are a private company ;)

Think about it, these fairy tales as you call them, have made a world a better place. They've created societies (America), a greatest nation in the world was based on those fairytales. There are thousands of years of human wisdom packed in those fairy tales, and they are an answer to how to build a society.

All those liberal dreams of "equality" and "do whatever the hell I want", they don't make society work, they create anarchy and shit-hole countries like Africa has. We have to be a nation under god if we are to be great and to survive with dignity and have fun doing it.
29   anonymous   2018 Jan 25, 9:48am

Trump was right: The real U.S. solar industry needs those anti-China tariffs.

U.S. manufacturers are being killed by subsidies from foreign governments.

President Donald Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on imported solar panels is a double win for America.

The duties, which will add 30% to the cost of these cells in their first year and then steadily decline to 15% in their fourth and final year, will help the United States reap the greatest possible economic benefits from the green-energy revolution. And they will prevent a new set of Chinese and other foreign government-subsidized foreign products from distorting the free markets that Americans rightly prize.

In announcing the tariffs late Monday, the Trump administration showed that it understands a crucial economic distinction that has been muddied throughout the solar trade controversy — between manufacturing and services.

It’s true that companies that install solar-power systems for homes, businesses, and utilities strongly opposed the tariffs. But it was always misleading for these firms to call themselves vital segments of “the American solar-energy industry.” and portray the sector as deeply split over the imports issue.

Similarly, the vital core of the “solar-energy industry” is composed of highly innovative U.S.-based producers that manufacture these green-energy products. Trump’s tariffs aim at keeping the nation in the critical green-energy production game by enabling these businesses to compete against overseas counterparts that use government support to keep prices at rock-bottom levels and undersell rivals that need to generate revenue and profits without a crutch (a practice known as “dumping”).

Had Trump listened to the solar installers and coddled solar-panel dumping, Americans would have been limited to affixing imported solar equipment to U.S. homes and businesses, the nation would have been pushed further to the sidelines of the green-energy revolution, and government-supported foreign producers would have compromised further the nation’s free markets.

Fortunately, he decided to help the nation win the biggest economic and technological prizes likely to flow from further alternative energy progress instead of the crumbs, and restore genuinely free competition to this crucial segment of the green energy industry.

Whirlpool to Add 200 Jobs After Trump Tariff Decision.

Whirlpool Corporation announced Tuesday that it will add 200 jobs to its Ohio facility after President Donald Trump’s administration placed a tariff on washing machines entering the United States.

The new employees will work at a factory in Clyde, Ohio. Whirlpool also promised to make more investments in manufacturing and innovation.

“This is a victory for American workers and consumers alike,” CEO Jeff Fettig said in a statement on Monday.

“By enforcing our existing trade laws, President Trump has ensured American workers will compete on a level playing field with their foreign counterparts, enabled new manufacturing jobs here in America, and will usher in a new era of innovation for consumers everywhere,” Fettig added.

Whirlpool joins a growing number of companies who have boosted investment into the U.S. as a direct response to Trump economic policies.
