Google accused of excluding Asians, whites for some positions

A lawsuit alleges the search giant set hiring quotas for some technical positions.

A former Google recruiter was fired from his job for objecting to a company practice of rejecting Asian and white male candidates for technical positions, according to a civil lawsuit filed against the internet giant.

Arne Wilberg, who worked at Google for nine years, alleges Google set quotas for hiring minorities, Bloomberg reported Thursday. The lawsuit, filed in January in California's San Mateo County Superior Court, claims he was fired by Google in retaliation for complaining to human resources about the company's hiring practices, the news agency reported.

The controversy comes as Silicon Valley companies grapple with how to increase workforce diversity in an industry dominated by white men and permeated with corporate cultures that seem biased against women and female engineers. Google, Facebook, Microsoft and other tech companies now regularly release diversity reports, highlighting low percentages of women and minority employees, with few moving up the management chain.

Google had "irrefutable policies, memorialized in writing and consistently implemented in practice, of systematically discriminating in favor job applicants who are Hispanic, African American, or female, and against Caucasian and Asian men," according to Wilberg's complaint.

Does "Asian" include people of Hindu decent?

One way around this white purge would be for white men to follow the Liz Warren example - just claim to be whatever minority is most desired at the moment. If you had a gramps who drank authentic Indian firewater, claim to be Cherokee. You could also use the Bruce Jennner method - stuff you slong into some silk panties, borrow the Boy George -Tammy Faye Baker face make up kit, add a dress and wig - then claimed to be female.

And whites are racist? Oh the irony.
4   Patrick   2018 Mar 1, 9:35pm

I'm surprised this lawsuit took so long to get filed.

Then again, maybe it's not so surprising. Even daring to mention the pervasive racism and sexism against white men in the bay area instantly gets you labelled as racist and sexist yourself. Most programmers are not socially adept enough to know how to handle such unfounded accusations, and so do nothing to defend themselves. Or they resort to objective scientific facts, like James Damore did, not realizing that he was dealing with a religion. Facts are not wanted and make no difference to a religion which proclaims that discrimination against white people based solely on their race is not racism and discrimination against men based solely on their gender is not sexism.

The chink in the armor, so to speak, is the great success of Asians in spite of starting from poverty. How can "white privilege" be reconciled with Asian success? It cannot, because white privilege is only a fabrication created to justify hate. There are more white people living in poverty than any other group, and their death rate has been rising while simultaneously falling for every other group.

One can only hope that the lawsuit succeeds and that we all start treating each other as fellow Americans to be judged on the content of their character rather than the color of their skin.

Who did you pick and why ?

Try this example:

You need a doctor to perform a critical surgery. One has a Jewish surname, another a Hindu Indian surname, another a name like Travon Jackson.

Since this is a life and death matter, you want the best. The Jewish guy is likely a graduate of a US medical school who had to compete with highly qualified applicants. The Indian guy might be a graduate of a low grade foreign medical school, and the Black sounding name guy may have been the product of an affirmative action program.

Regardless of what race the patient is, that patient may be inclined to chose the Jewish doctor.

Of course, in real life one would have more info on the individual doctors, like for example Travon above may have bee number one in his med school at William and Mary while the Jewish guy went to a Caribbean med school. And as such, this contrived situation is really no more valid that the "Candidates selected by HR" situation in an above post.

Sadly, this occurs everywhere. Well-said also about religion, as FACTS do not matter to the sexist/racist/Islamophobic/sizeist/ableist crowd.

If "fucking white male" bashing continues, in next elections I will vote TRUMP even though I do not like him and did not vote in previous elections because all candidates sucked.

•"I can if I wish arrange to be in the company of people of my race most of the time."

If you read through the rest of the list, you can see how white people and people of color experience the world in two very different ways.

Most of it is horrible bullshit.
1. TV - whites are severely underrepresented. We do not have "white entertainment TV", and every time I turn on TV, I see "diverse" group of actors etc. I do not care really, but I call BS.
2. Heritage of the civilization - do let me know what achievements come out of Sub-Saharan Africa. Our civilization comes from Mesopotamia and Egypt via Middle East to Greeks and Romans. Most of modern era inventions come from Europe, US, and Japan. I call ideologically-driven BS also on this. Furthermore, if the person does not like the current situation, then perhaps that person should not major in African or Womyns studies, but instead study engineering. That is difficult however; complaining is easier.
3. IRS audited conservatives I believe; also, would be nice to know how IRS knows your skin color. About cops - I have no love lost for them - I would like to see statistics with respect to singling out drivers by race. I saw statistics that being killed by cop when you are stopped has equal probability for any race.
4. I am in TX, and in this city I am a minority while being white. I am a minority also in my work place - majority are Asians. I do not see what is the fucking point - I feel comfortable not being majority here, I do not give a shit what race my coworkers or neighbors are. If someone has problems with other races being around and is complaining about it, then perhaps that person is a racist.
5. About different experience - why my Asian colleagues do not engage in complaining about everything?

I will pick Thanh Nguyen - and this shows your microaggression and cultural insensitivity as Thanh and Nguyen are Vietnamese names but Yasu is Japanese, and they do not get along very well. He will likely work hard, and if he screws up, I will be able to fire him. With Ashanique Kendasha Jackson - if she screws up, I will not be able to fire her without being sued. Even more likely, HR will not let me fire her even in case of extreme incompetence.

Because people who are successful on their own merits don't need to complain. People who know they mostly dug their own hole want to ditch the blame on somebody else.

"Sure I had three kids out of wedlock before 20 by 3 different fathers. It's the fault of white privilege. White Guys in Polo Shirts literally made me have not right swipe on Tindr with three Felons and drove them to my HUD apartment in their BMW."

Of course, "that's not what we mean". Of course not, that would be ridiculous. But what you mean is even more ridiculous: If "Society" made you be a bastard factory 3x over, how then did the Asian Girls not get pregnant 3x by 20 from Parolees? They watch the same shit on TV you did! The difference wasn't Society, it was PARENTING.

That's very normal. People do things primarily for their descendants, not other people's descendants.

Given whites are the majority, this would be appropriate, normal, and from a marketing view, smart.

We see in South Africa that when Blacks become the Majority, they don't rule with lovingkindness towards minorities either, but plot to find ways to legally redistribute their wealth. Which by the way, is the real goal behind White Privilege - redistribution of resources, and power for the redistribution decision-makers.

This is the key.

At all times in history and in all countries on earth, the majority is the "normative" culture for that country. It can not ever be otherwise.

So what we have is a small subset of minority people complaining that they are a minority, and desiring to punish the majority for no reason other than that they are the majority.

Lol, these are all the results of the majority being the majority, which is true at all times in all places and must necessarily be so. Randomly choosing a person is most likely to result in a person from the majority. There is no valid point to any of the examples given.

Look at it this way: if someone taking statistics tried to claim that getting a green M&M from from a bowl with 77% green M&M's when choosing blindfolded somehow showed bias, then they would fail the class, and rightly so.

Of course, when you are looking for a good Beer or a Shepard's Pie, you'd probably go to McKesson's Irish Pub rather than Schlomo's Deli.
"Macher of the Hora" isn't a worldwide theater hit.

If you want to terminate an hourly employee for cause without a lot of bullshit, you need to have a well documented case established of what it is that is not meeting expectations, any supervisory input to improve performance (warnings if you will), acknowledgement from the individual they have been counseled/warned etc. - long story short, if the case is well documented, it can be done quite easily.

Unions present a different set of problems but again not insurmountable.

Salaried people on the other hand unless in a union or a handful of state have little to no protections and can be let go on a whim without having an exhaustive documented case to back you up.

In our place, we have an extremely competent manager who is from one of Caribbean countries. She has a subordinate who is the same black race, and is utterly incompetent. Our competent Caribbean manager went to HR and asked that the incompetent and lazy person be terminated. She was told that this incompetent will never, ever be terminated. Will our Caribbean manager hire another black person, unless she is 100% sure that the person being hired is competent? And this is not an isolated case, it is fairly typical.

Is this white privilege again?

That image is a good illustration of James Damore's point that the left will consistently misrepresent arguments that they disagree with:

Upper management tried to placate this surge of outrage by shaming me and misrepresenting my document, but they couldn't really do otherwise: The mob would have set upon anyone who openly agreed with me or even tolerated my views.

Misrepresentation and then shaming for that misrepresentation is really their whole bag of tricks.

Yep. Another bait and switch, like Al Gore's big job gains from NAFTA.

Ted Kennedy literally promised the 1965 Immigration Act would not fundamentally alter the demographics of the USA. Liberals sneered at suggestions it would do so. Now they say "Haw Haw! You'll become the minority, Ha!Ha!"

Just like the Somalis were going to be so well integrated it would be a model program. Minnesota and Minneapolis and aid organizations from all over spent millions in advance of their arrival. Now into their 2nd/3rd Generations, they are famous only for crime. Even their very first cop on the force shot an unarmed woman who called the police for help, for no reason!

Just like The Giant Sucking sound was mocked, but became the real deal in the wake of NAFTA and MFN. The Free Traders promised it would create "High Tech Jobs of the Future", and then when it didn't, they said "Haw, Haw, can't fight this natural process, even though it's completely political and man-made, lose your job and take Oxy, scum!

Mass Immigration, Rapefugees, and one-sided, unbalanced "Free Trade" aren't natural forces, they're 100% man-made policies that can be ended.

Thing is, that's an historical guarantee. Common in the 18th and 19th Century UK, California before the 1950s, etc. Mostly White People.

"New Yorkers, Come West, we're paying a five dollars a day."
"Haha, that was just one position, but I'll do you a favor, you can pick this lettuce for five cents an hour. After the entire season, you might have enough for one ticket back home."

One of the favorite reasons to enclose was "Saucy" laborers who could scratch by between their small holding and the Common. No Common = Dependence on the Farmer for wages.

That's how the US Coastie Elites feel today. "These uncouth Whites are too uppity with the wage demands, all this unionization and American Dream crap. Let's import more desperate Brown People who will take what I'll give 'em."
