Howard Schultz personally destroyed billions of dollars of Starbucks shareholder value by deliberately inflaming racial tensions with PC messages about race on coffee cups. The stock failed to participate in the recent record stock rally, and the biggest factor is his pushing politics into what should have been a simple coffee business:

He's no longer CEO, but is still "executive chairman" of Starbucks. Can he be held personally liable for not acting in the best interests of shareholders?

The race initiative is the latest of Starbucks’ efforts to throw the weight of its brand behind social and political issues that have little or nothing to do with its core business of selling coffee. The company says it’s trying to redefine the role of a publicly traded, for-profit corporation.
