President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the U.S. military will be used to guard the U.S.-Mexico border.

“We are going to be guarding our border with our military. That’s a big step,” Trump told Reporters gathered at the White House. “We cannot have people flowing into our country illegally, disappearing, and by the way never showing up for court.”

The President’s comments appear to take aim at current U.S. policy which requires border agents to catch then release family units who arrive at the borer from noncontiguous countries.

He also said he had spoken with Secretary of Defense James Mattis about the use of the military to guard the border.

In recent days, Trump has repeatedly tweeted about a caravan of illegal immigrants making their way from Honduras to the US border via Mexico. The President had threatened to end the NAFTA agreement if the Mexican government did not stop the caravan.

Mexican authorities responded to Trump’s Sunday threat to kill NAFTA by pledging to disband the caravan and allow some transmitters to apply for asylum in Mexico.

Great! He'll use to the military to enforce our territorial limits, just like Clinton did.

Trump is right to do this. It's an invasion.

I think the caravan will be dismantled by Mexico either just before or just after it gets turned away at the US Border.

Why? Mexicans are outraged that Central Americans sneak into Mexico to work for lower wages than Mexicans.

Lol, this is actually true! I didn't know about it:

ARRIAGA, Chiapas – This sweltering Mexican village sits about 1,200 miles south of Texas, but the complaints about foreigners would sound familiar in the Lone Star State: People crossing the river illegally from the south are driving down wages, taking over neighborhoods and taxing social services. Others are gaming the country’s legal immigration system by overstaying their visas.

Tens of thousands of Central American migrants have passed through here fleeing their homelands, most trekking northward to seek asylum in the United States. But an increasing number are stopping and settling just north of the Suchiate River, the shallow body of water that separates Guatemala and Mexico.

The big Caravan of People from Honduras, now coming across Mexico and heading to our “Weak Laws” Border, had better be stopped before it gets there. Cash cow NAFTA is in play, as is foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this to happen. Congress MUST ACT NOW!

Mexico Gets Trump's Message: Deports Portion of "Illegal Caravan" Heading for U.S.

There is currently a caravan of around 1,000 Central Americans marching toward the United States border to demand asylum. Their number was closer to 1,500, but Mexico deported around 400 of them for entering the country illegally.

According to CNN, the Mexican Foreign Ministry issued a statement that “the caravan is mainly made up of people from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador and that around 400 caravan participants who did not enter the country of Mexico lawfully had been repatriated to their countries of origin ‘with the strict legal framework.'”

So to recap: a caravan of “asylum seekers” is marching toward the U.S. to demand illegal entry, but their plan was largely thwarted because they’re not “asylum seekers” – they’re border jumpers; meanwhile Trump's threats to end Nafta and end handouts to Latin American nations, may have resulted in a premature end to end threat of a humanitarian crisis at the border.

Why isn't Trump machine gunning everyone in Honduras personally?

Don't need to. 108 murders per 100,000. They're doing it all by themselves.

Mattis OKs 4,000 National Guard troops for border, starting Friday night.

WASHINGTON — The National Guard will deploy a handful of troops to the U.S.-Mexico border beginning Friday night, according to three U.S. officials, the first step in President Donald Trump’s plan to station a few thousand troops at the border to curb illegal immigration. The troops will arrive in the next 24 to 48 hours, according to a senior defense official.

A Pentagon memo about the deployment calls for up to 4,000 troops from border states to be assigned through Sept. 30. It says that the troops will not be used for law enforcement or interaction with immigrants unless Defense Secretary James Mattis approves it, and that the troops will be armed only if required for self-defense. Mattis signed the memo late Friday.

The initial deployment of 500 will include soldiers and airmen, according to a statement Friday from the National Guard, which said it was sending them "to border locations and sending vehicles, equipment and helicopters starting tonight."

Texas immediately sending 250 National Guard members to Mexican border; Arizona to deploy 150 next week.

Texas and Arizona officials are deploying a total of 400 troops to the Mexican border, just days after President Trump's order aiming to stop illegal crossings and drug trafficking, they said Friday.

Texas, which has the longest border with Mexico, sent its first National Guard members Friday evening following a news conference where military officials detailed plans to send about 250 guardsmen to its 1,241-mile-long border within 72 hours. Arizona, whose border with Mexico spans about 375 miles, plans to send 150 troops by next week.

The states made their announcements as Trump and aides ordered law-enforcement officials to redouble efforts to enforce a zero-tolerance policy on illegal border crossings and an end to the so-called "catch and release" program that allowed immigrants into the U.S. while awaiting court hearings. The moves signaled the Trump administration is cracking down even further at the Southwest border.

"This mobilization supports the priorities of the governor and the president in securing our border," said Tracy Norris, deputy adjutant general of the Texas Military Department, which oversees the state's National Guard branches.
