NPR pushes a very specific political agenda and simply does not want to hear facts or opinions that question their unquestionable gospel of globalization.

To allow polite and reasoned questioning of NPR's agenda would displease NPR's billionaire donors and cut in to donors' corporate profits, and so public comments were eliminated from NPR's website with the lame rationalization that "internal research found less than 1% of its audience was actually using the comments section. In addition, the costs of running a comments section and keeping it on-topic were skyrocketing."

If they really have 36.9 million unique monthly users as claimed, that 1% is about 369,000 unique monthly users, hardly insignificant.

And trust me, the cost of running a forum is not high. I'm sure it's far less than 1% of their budget.

The real reason for NPR closing off their discussion section is that they simply do not like the political opinions of the majority of Americans.

Reading between the lines here, maybe the cost of NPR's website is pretty high... they might have been spending a lot of money deleting comments that don't fit their agenda.

NPR is a prime example why taxpayer dollars shouldn't be going to so-called "public" radio or TV.

I cracked up listening to NPR a few weeks ago. They went to play a clip about Trump and trade and it was somebody saying something positive about Trump and the guy cut it off saying it was the wrong clip.

Maybe you should offer to run it for them for $50 / month!

Maybe nprcomments.org is available. You could set it up for them and run it for them for a while. Start a new thread for each story, and see if you can get traffic.

The only people I know who listen to NPR are old cat owning Democrat women usually driving a Prius C or burnt out 62 year old hippies who usually work in education.

I used to listen to Garrison Keillor before he was me-too-ed. He talked about small town Minnesota which was fairly enjoyable as it reminded me of my NE European youth days in a small village. Now there is nothing to listen to. I guess I have to wait until I am 62, burnt out, and buy a Prius :)

I used to like NPR for its in-depth diverse reporting; now it focuses on two topics: 1) Trump is awful, 2) all other white men are awful. I cracked when hearing that a 'study' had determined that National Geographic was from a male European viewpoint. Un, well yeah.

Thanks @FNWGMOBDVZXDNW that's quite a good idea!

We could all get online and chat about whatever they have on the air at that moment.

NPR's demise came about with Ken Stern, and now Jarl Mohn is just about to finish the job. Two lefty liberals, one of which is suffering from a severe case of TDS who decided agenda pushing was way more important than the truth. If you have a public radio station that doesn't care about truth, it becomes something else entirely (another word that starts with "p").

One time I was on, answered question not how they wanted me to. They cut me off, and on radio delay pretended they lost connection.

Complete one sided propaganda.

That kind of stuff really gets me. Why can't a Patagonian Eskimo transgendered person start xer own successful magazine/show and replace the one created by Fucking White Males for Fucking White Males?

Michael Krasny the forum old-timer and Freakonomics were pretty cool. They have a few good segments, but I bet even the old-timers are getting fed up with NPRs political globalist leftist propaganda garbage. It used to be much better and centered back then. Hardly ever listen to it anymore.
12   georgeliberte   2018 Apr 27, 4:10pm

Car Talk was awesome!
13   Patrick   2018 Apr 27, 4:40pm

Yes, Krasny and Car Talk were examples of good quality content partly because they were not pushing any agenda.

Marketplace is still good to the degree that they leave the globalist agenda out of it, but it creeps in there too.
14   Automan Empire   2018 Apr 27, 5:04pm

I've never been able to listen to NPR for long enough at a time to discern their overall positions and biases. The pace of information is slow, and the content delivery usually sounds as DRY as the Sahara.

Comments sections tend to be toxic cesspools of ad hominem and whataboutism. Wise people attrit out quickly, thus concentrating an ever more emboldened core group of trolls.
15   Tenpoundbass   2018 Apr 27, 7:30pm

They tell you to call the day before and leave messages then they record shit in the studio and say it was the callers questions from the day before.
Then they have a thought specialist they ask those fabricated questions to.
It's the only entertainment on the radio.

The Market place lead in when he says they'll do the numbers. Is pure partisan biased shit. If we took them for their word, Trump was supposed to have us in a global depression by now. And every company in America was supposed to go bankrupt.
17   Tenpoundbass   2018 Apr 27, 7:33pm

I've thought about starting a Youtube show when I listen to NPR then blow a gasket, rebuttal and give commentary.
End every show with me smashing a cheap radio.
I can blend the two, the radio unboxing, and review, then my NPR commentary.

Has NPR ever, even once, had a pro-conservative or pro-Potus story? I think they have not.

Sometimes they have good neutral stories, but they normally show extreme bias in their selection of stories and speakers, and in the spin they put on things.

I think I will try to start nprcomments.org.

They used to be the PBS of the Radio. They did fluff and lifestyle documentaries that weren't what I would call political hot button trends. But just stories about interesting or extraordinary people. They let BBC do all of the News and Political cometary. Everything came unhinged everywhere when Bush got elected.
The left creeped into creating an echo chamber for Pro Liberal bias in 90% of media and medium, in the 8 years Bush was in office. By time Obama ran for office it was already installed as America's moral conscious and narrative chauffeurs.

Yes, I also remember when NPR was not so political, and not so skewed to one side. Long ago.
21   Ceffer   2018 Apr 28, 1:26am

NPR needs to add ApocalypseFuck as a regular editorial contributor. That'll make the Getty shekels play jingle bells.

A long time ago they used to cover Ron Paul rather sympathetically.

I used to enjoy Krasny until one day he said, "I slow down in the fast lane when someone behind me is going too fast".
There really are people that dickish.

South Florida's biggest employment engine is Government. City, State and Federal and many Contractor companies that work for the thousands of agencies.
It is Dominated by Liberal diversity. Which simply means no White Cis Gender Males.

One thing I'm certain of, every single one of those companies and agencies must have monthly rallies where the employees are implored to get on the highways and dawdle along 35mph regardless how open the highway is.

They are cramming America's worst public transportation down our throats. If they can't get that then they'll take lanes our tax dollars already paid for, and make you pay a premium to drive in them. There was a car on the far left lane on i95 one morning going into work, that was doing about 45mph. I got behind him and was flashing my lights blowing my horn nothing phased him. Finally the lane to the right of me opened up and I got around him after about two miles. An FHP officer that was comming up behind in two lanes over to the right. Saw what was going on, and he pulled behind the car and flashed his headlights not his emergency lights. The car stayed in the lane as to dare him to pull him over. The FHP just went around him.

They are untouchable, even if they do make the roads a dangerous situation with people having to go around them as people are trying to get up to speed to pass idiots even further back down the road.
