Los Angeles and Orange Counties have a shortfall of more than 660,000 homes affordable to the poorest families in the region — those earning 50 percent or less than the median income, a new series of housing reports from the nonprofit California Housing Partnership shows.

In Los Angeles County alone, there’s a shortage of 568,255 homes affordable to “very low-income” households, or those earning less than $35,000 a year.

Orange County has a shortage of 92,738 homes affordable to the very low income, defined as those earning less than $46,000 a year in O.C.

Silly article.
If a household is making less than $35,000 per year, how in the world do you provide housing at $1,000 per month, in LA, to make it affordable?
Most of the households are probably young and single people sharing an apartment. They don't need special housing.
If it's a family, they probably have rent subsidies anyway.

Disgusting how a newspaper will exaggerate and bullshit, just to sell newspapers.
