This is true! The Feds can start by ending any movement of money into programs that feed and house the homeless. Wanna cut this off at the root? Stop any funding of welfare programs, esp those that support single motherhood.

What's wrong with homeless? They are only unsightly to the rich. The rich always complain how much money goes into this welfare and some people whom they feel that they don't deserve to get paid. They use that to get a favorable tax reform. This sounds like a rich people scheming again. I bet that this writer is a rich person.

Yeah, we non-rich people actually enjoy walking feces-strewn streets of SF and riding BART next to smelly bums.

Let each state handle the problem. Arizona, for example, should be allowed to bus the homeless to San Francisco if the homeless are willing to go. If San Francisco continues to be so welcoming, then, obviously, the tax mules there enjoy the homeless. If San Francisco turns out to not like the homeless, then they should be less welcoming and the homeless will move somewhere else.

Why is this not a no brainer?

Look at all of the Hoovervilles that huge work projects cured. We need to cripple the monopolies in this country and have a policy that supports Small businesses over huge corporations for every Government Contract. Favor them over Federal lending to grow businesses. Need more work with more people getting and sharing more pieces of the pie. Rather than the same Charlestons subbing everything out, pocketing the bulk of the cash and off shoring the rest. Tax money spent has to make its way to the working people for a change. Not the politicians and the sorry lazy asses welfare class the politicians nurse and grow.

It's a problem of stupidity and greed. Problem in U.S. is how bad the situation really is, the government is hiding how bad it really is via i.e. rental assistance, they just throw good money after bad. So, you see it on the news from time to time, but the media is behind the cover up, instead asking the rest of us poorer folks to give money to help, sorry no can do, the government already has the rest of us bent over.

“You can actually save money by giving somebody some dignity and giving them a place to live.”

What blows my mind?, the homeless in my city are happy as can be, winter is over and summer is coming, the rest will be happier too, and so it is a time of more, not plenty but more. The less some have, the happier they are.

This is a country where some people have to work hard for $7/h (or whatever the minimum).
What should the penalty be for not doing that?

How much do illegal immigrants make for picking up strawberries? Why can't our homeless do the same?

It's beneath them to pick strawberries.

Ridiculous housing politics, debt accumulation, soul killing jobs, spiritual death, institutionalized public assistance, dreadful gender relations and resulting terminal fertility rates, massive immigration to plug the gap, massive inequalities... the mantras of the modern neo-liberal establishment.
Where did we go wrong?

Immigrants don't make puppy squat for working, but they will work hard (two jobs), and are willing to share an apartment with 5 other people, usually of same lineage descent so they get along. They have work ethic. They don't blow their money on addictions, they don't buy stuff, they work and save up enough money in about 5 years to go home, buy a home in their home country, and leave this shit hole behind once and for all.

Meanwhile, people post stupid things that add nothing credible to the conversation because misery loves company and you fight amongst yourselves over political parties that are both sold out to the lobbyist.

That is great for those running a sweatshop. For everyone else. the horde of slave labor displaces native people who are looking for decent paying work.

Also, if all those people are so great and productive why is the place they are from not prosperous?

You mean illegal immigrants. And no, most don't go home willingly.

I've posted previously that minimum wage jobs for the most part are not difficult nor are they soul crushing.

Working for McDonalds isn't squat in terms of hard work. Simply put, its not. Hence why its easy for illegals to work two such jobs.
