Care must be rationed or people just neglect their health and wind up needing drastic and expensive things to remain alive. Obamacare showed us that. Every country that has single payer rations care.

Yes, but they don't do it based on financial ability of the sick person.

Actually, they do. Those who are rich buy private insurance or fly to other countries for care they pay for themselves. Only those who are poor are forced into the government system, where care is rationed.

Every country that doesn't rations care including the US. People who can't pay don't get care.

Trump administration seeks to end coverage for president-existing conditions
Fake news. He's not ending coverage for pre-existing conditions, he's just not putting as much of the burden on healthy people. Sick people just need to pay more of their own care out of their own pocket...what a concept.

Why is it nonsense? It seems pretty obvious. Those with more money can buy more quality care.

Don't think Trump could even succeed at that.

That's not how private insurance works in most public health systems. You have to be a doctor in the public systems to offer private services. So private insurance patients see the same doctors in the same offices in the same hospitals. There is no difference in the quality of care because it's the same care by the same people.

Private health insurance doesn't apply to primary care, only specialists. What would be the point since you choose your family doc/gp? The point of private insurance is being able to choose which doctor and when to have something done. If you need a procedure and don't have private insurance you get whoever is assigned to you and go whenever you are scheduled. Some people would like a choice and are willing to pay for it. Not much of a payment ether, private insurance is cheap. Really that's how it works most places.

It's pretty obvious and pretty incorrect, if the only point of reference you have is the us health care system. Sorry if the facts don't fit into you pre conceived ideological bias.

Flying to other countries isn't common public health systems. In the first world there is almost no difference in quality. Doctors use the same procedures, equipment, training etc., etc. everywhere. It's more common in the US for financial reasons and the third world for quality. The whole subject of medical tourism is pretty much impossible to quantify anyway. Things like people combining a vacation with getting cosmetic surgery or expats returning home to be near family don't reflect on the medical systems so how do you identify them and account for them? It's impossible.

India did a breakdown of medical tourists.
Bangladesh/Nepal/Sri Lanka 19%
• Iraq 18 %
• Middle East 16 %
• Africa 9%
• Afghanistan 9%
• Europe 6%
• USA 4%
• * Non resident Indians from all countries 22%

So 22% are Indian expats. Europe doesn't break down by country so impossible to tell how many from eastern Europe countries. Also impossible to tell how many from the first world combined travel with a something that could have been easily done at home. Interesting that the US has 4% considering it has less than half the population of Europe at 6%. Especially since Americans do so little foreign travel compared to Europeans. Especially especially considering all the claims that America has the best medical care in the world unlike those socialist death panel rationed care European countries. How does that work?

Like I said medical tourism can't be quantified to show anything about quality of care, especially in the first world.

If it's such a great idea than you should have no objection to extending it to employer health plans also. What a concept. When will trump be announcing that?
