It is sad, such beauty. I was recently talking to a liberal woman who supported illegal immigration and was saying trump was heartless. I changed the subject to career etc and she started to complain about how difficult it was to egt good paying jobs, there was no job security anymore.

I was going to bring it up, but then I realized if her own brain cannot connect the two-then why bother? How can you not connect the two??

Because Lefties see Migrants are targets for virtue signalling their moral supremacy, and don't see the whole ecosystem beyond that.

It is incredibly sad. If we had no other constraints we'd probably pack up and leave - likely my current job would let me telecommute and w/ the supplemental trading it would let me live like a king elsewhere. CA is incredibly beautiful and I spent some of my best years there, but future generations may not be able to come here and experience its greatness. I'd say it peaked during the first dot-com boom and the following years leading up to the housing bubble, it you don't like tech it probably peaked much earlier for you. People who bought or buy here at the price peak (always delayed) will be sorry but they didn't do their DD. This is not just about supply and demand for homes and affordability anymore, this is about preventing 2nd word status. CA will need an incredible amount of money to clean up this mess and there will be a point were people will start dumping, even the Chinese, once the city is dirtier and unsafer than where they came from. But it also is a chance for a new birth, a reset that comes with this destruction. We shall see.

Most of my non tech friends are long gone. About half of my other friends are on the fence especially the ones with kids.

California is undergoing something of the same process that Sweden and France is now enjoying.

Cultural change from an inferior culture.

I love CA-the state. The Sierra Nevadas, the temperate rainforests, Yosemite, the ocean, beaches, mountains, high desert, low desert, the spectacular 395 highway. Just go 50-100 miles and everything changes-it is rare to be in such a vibrant beautiful place. Sad what is going on-needless and ultimately the music will stop and lets see what happens. Hopefully 10-15 years it gets back to normal-then I can retire there-love the weather!

The section from NV to Bishop, CA is spectacular. From NV, it is hilly and you head towards Lee Vining and 120 to Yosemite on 395. beautiful. If you come in winter when not snowing-absolutely gorgeous with snow capped peaks on either side and you are driving 65-75 mph . The road itself hits 7-8,000 ft yet relatively flat . Coming into Bridgeport is nice-you have some antural hot springs there, fi that si your thing-I love hot springs-some of those are clothing optional. Then you hit come into the decline into Mono Lake past Bodie-which is a nice visit. Lee Vining is a nice little town and 120 into Yosemite is a nice, spectatcular drive up into Yosemite-if you don't go in, the scenery is beautiful and nice places tos top, hike, enjoy plentiful lakes. Saddlebag lake is a nice stop there, you can get a boat ride across the lake and hike the high alpine country. South of 120 you go past mammoth, June lake loop -which is beautiful, hiking, boat rentals, horseback riding etc and then slowly down south to Bishop, CA. Then onto Big pine which if you take a left, you go to bristlecone pines-which may be the odlest living things on earth-some are reputed to be older than jesus.. Past Bridgeport, it slowly becomes plain and not that interesting, you hit lone oine and ther esi the Japanese internment camp from ww2, but after a while just high desert and you hit the fork 14 to Lso Angeles and 395 to down south .

Each season varies, winter many side roads are closed, 120 etc, June lake loop etc 395 is always open, except during heavy snow. But winter is so beautiful -just driving on a dry winter day 70-80 mph with snow capped peaks on either side-is something else! As you get to summer, you get to see the other attractions, can hike the high country-I rode horseback a lot , boat, just enjoy- you won't see snow capped peaks, but still spectacular scenery. Death Valley too is off of 395 -I think off Lone Pine.

I love that drive, just lots of scenery, different things for different times of the year and eerily beautiful, like you are in some other universe.

Past Lone Pine, CA going south it just becomes a normal high desert route-still spectacular, but nothing like up north. Just be careful in NV-I don't know how they at enow, but they have these little itty bitty towns that have 25mph speed limits and theyw ill give tickets to out of state plates for going 26mph. They have nothing to do and I guess tickets are the town's main revenue. I have had a cop sitting opposite to me, drive by a bend, go fast the other way out of view and then I see him coming up on me very fast-I know their tricks, so did only 20 mph, he followed me very closely till end of town and then lost interest.

You should have asked about the car insurance rates. I recently moved from Ohio to Texas. My car insurance rates trippled. I looked into it and found out that the major cause of it was the large numbers of uninsured drivers, many illegally here.

You also have to look at the collective resources such as roads, water, and schools. All of these are being strained as the number of people using them goes up.

The leftist have gone crazy and are on a suicide mission.

Leaving California? Enjoy that weather wherever you're moving!
12   Ceffer   2018 Jul 9, 11:16am

Yeah, the weather. Every year, the psycho arsonists stick their finger in the air, look for a warm wind, and try to see what else in California can burn. I live in the Great Socialist Coastal Paradise, and last summer/fall there was ten weeks of smoke in the air. And that hurts, baby, breathing that shit with nowhere to go. Many of the past summers have been humid and full of smoke, too, one of the reasons we wanted a place closer to the ocean. Guess what? even that was no escape.

So far, this spring and summer have been really nice with one brief spell of smoke, but it isn't over yet. It has been years since it was this nice, like it is SUPPOSED to be in the Cali mythology.

Whenever anybody says anything about Cali's manifest corruption, taxes, crowding, expense, and increasing unrecognizibility as an advanced, unblighted civilization etc., somebody chimes "but, but.....the WEATHER!"

Thomas Wictor is a crack up.

California peaked in the 1950's. Low population, OUTSTANDING public schools. It's still beautiful, otherwise we'd be long gone. My hope is that the mass exodus continues, and once the public sector devours itself, we can rebuild what we once had without all the leaches.

Orson Wells' WW2 Vet Hero Roommate story is unbelievable. The flaming'est hero in US History.

"Oh yes, I found a path through minefield on the beach leading up to Countess d'Abruzzi's Manor. When the deviled eggs came out undercooked and the staff was appalling, I tell you it was the worst dinner party ever, Colonel."

Three houses -- muh inherited Prop 13 tax basis. At least the new owners will contribute RE taxes to the state coffers.
17   socal2   2018 Jul 9, 6:19pm

There are still plenty of pockets of paradise in California.

Best decision I ever made was buying a great house in Carlsbad, CA back in 2011 at the bottom of the market.

We'll get our California fixed up. Won't be easy, but we Americans never had it easy. Time to roll up the sleeves.

You think there will be a mass exodus of the La Raza hordes? Where would they go?

You see, without the public sector, there is no public handout. From my wife's experience working at ResCare, those on the dole who didn't want to do shit where never limited to Mexicans. Laziness is an ethnically agnostic trait.

CA left doesn’t care about poor.
They are 200% focused on marriage equality for mentally challenged lgbtqp groups.

Where California used to have "Welcome Wagon", they now give you a packet of 'fill in the blanks' restraining orders and lawyers' cards.

If you read the OP Twitter account, the author says he suffers from several mental illnesses. His comments July 7 about "sky rockets" and "mortars" refer to July 4 fireworks. He is cashing in on California real estate gains.

Meanwhile, California continues prospering mightily. Governor Brown, now in his 4th term, has a budget surplus yet again, and the state's economy has now surpassed the United Kingdom to become the 5th largest economy in the world.

He didn't live with his parents. He's lived in Japan and other places; he was a writer for Bass Guitar magazine for years and years.
