here in the United States the u.s. is 04:31 mostly pretty straightforward with four 04:33 time zones that cover the continental 48 04:35 states and one each for Hawaii and 04:37 Alaska but daylight savings time is 04:40 where things get complicated. two states 04:42 don't follow daylight savings time: hawaii, which 04:45 doesn't matter because it's surrounded 04:46 by ocean, and Arizona which is weird 04:48 because it's surrounded by land, but 04:50 Arizona gets even more weird when you 04:52 consider the borders of the Navajo 04:54 reservation, which does follow daylight 04:56 savings time. this is even further 04:58 complicated by the Hopi reservation 04:59 which is totally surrounded by the 05:02 Navajo reservation and like the rest of 05:03 Arizona decides to not follow daylight 05:06 savings time. but the Navajo Reservation 05:08 has an enclave inside of the Hopi 05:10 reservation which creates a time zone 05:12 map of Arizona during daylight savings 05:14 time that looks like this. in theory you 05:17 could drive in a straight line and hit 05:18 all of these spots and have to change 05:20 your clock an hour back and forth seven 05:22 times all while driving inside of the 05:25 same state
